iFLY Naperville
Feeling the rush of a sky dive aerial-free fall is now possible without having to jump out of a plane thanks to a new business in town.
iFLY Chicago's Naperville location is giving locals temporary wings thanks to their state of the art 14 foot diameter, zero gravity, climate controlled, recirculating wind tunnel.
[That] means we don't take air from the outside a push it out the top, said iFLY Naperville's General Manager, Dave Janossy. We instead use the same air and recirculate it on a loop.
The 1600 horsepower tunnel creates an upward draft that can be adjusted by a driver based on the flyers ability and weight, from 80 to 175 miles per hour, allowing flyers to feel weightless.
It's really hard to describe without someone doing it, said Tim Hunckler, iFLY Naperville's lead instructor. I try to tell them best that I can. I tell them just put a smile on your face and you'll feel that rush.
After watching others take a turn in the tunnel I had to try it for myself.
First for safety, I took a quick training class to learn what to expect in the tunnel, including the proper body position and 4 hand signals my instructor, Allen might use to communicate.
Then it was time to suit up. Everything you need is provided by iFLY.
I was a little apprehensive before stepping into the tunnel. The wind took some getting used to, but with help from Allen I got the hang of it.
After logging more flight time, flyers can learn different moves and tricks. The iFLY experience isn't only for beginners like me, it can be catered to any skill level.
For someone thinking about going sky diving it's a great first run, said Janossy. For someone who is reticent to jump out of a moving aircraft it's a great simulation.
This gives me an opportunity to practice, said Jill Scheidel who has 5,000 sky dives. I'm trying to learn different ways of flying than I'm used to. It gives me the chance to practice that time in the air. It feels like free fall though.
It was awesome, said first time flyer, Ken Kirincic. It was better than I thought. I've always wanted to sky dive, but being a pilot you never jump out of a perfectly good airplane.
Because of the strain on your body, typically flights are about 60 seconds. That's comparable to the approximately 45 seconds of free fall you experience in a real world sky dive.

Planning & Zoning Commission Approves of New iFly Location in Naperville
A new highflying business has also won over the Planning and Zoning Commission.
iFly is an indoor skydiving facility with 11 locations in major cities across the united states.
The Planning and Zoning Commission gave a positive recommendation for the proposed 9,777 square foot, three story building. It would sit on the southeast corner of Freedom Drive and Independence Avenue in Freedom Commons.
The building will house a 50-foot high tube, with fans below it generating winds up to 150 miles per hour, lifting flyers into the air.
The owner says anyone from three to 103 can try it. Customers are required to take introductory safety courses before flying.
The plan will now head to city council for approval.

Daniel Allen left college and went on to Cook County Sheriff and Chicago police academy and became a hard working honest police officer who got promoted to the rank of Sergeant for the Chicago police department where he has served for 23 years, Although working in Law Enforcement Daniel never lost sight of his true passion which is music, sports and youth.
In addition to the position of Chief Executive Officer at DPYPAC, Daniel is also currently the Youth Chorale Director and Music Director for DPYPAC and Youth Media Director for the new and upcoming program where the youth will present all things media and music. Daniel has obtained his Bachelors and Master's degree in Law Enforcement administration and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Victoria's journey started a little rocky before she entered into this world. After six siblings doctors told her mom the odds are you or the baby may not make it. Her mom said if it comes down to that save the baby and name her Victoria for she has purpose to be here. At the age of 25 Divine Purpose was born.
She started out with Divine Purpose Dance Academy for praise dance and hip hop at the Chicago park district. A year later husband, Daniel Allen and wife decided to expand and add choir, drama, piano, drums and Divine Purpose Youth Performing Arts Center (DPYPAC) was our new name. Victoria is a mom of three daughters and a student at Ashford University where she is obtaining her degree in early childhood education.
After School Matters is a nonprofit organization that offers Chicago teens free high-quality, out-of-school time opportunities in the arts, science, sports, technology and communications. We primarily serve Chicago Public Schools high school students.
The Divine Purpose hands-on, project-based programs introduce teens to a variety of careers, while helping them develop marketable job skills. After School Matters partners with Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Public Library, and the Chicago Park District to provide program opportunities at safe locations within neighborhoods. We also collaborate with more than 100 community organizations across Chicago.
The Divine Purpose programs will give you a hands-on experience with projects while working alongside skilled professionals who will help you develop job skills and expose you to rewarding careers. When you participate in an After School Matters program, you can increase your confidence, build skills and professional values like excellence, leadership, teamwork, respect, commitment and innovation.
