From the sense of helplessness that individuals felt towards life in the 1990s to the material wealth brought about by the economic boom from that decade onwards – all these changes in the mentality of the Chinese community are central to Chinese artist Zhang Enli’s oeuvre. In ZHANG ENLI, a short documentary produced by the K11 Art Foundation and 88Rising, the artist describes how the styles and subject matters of his paintings reflect his observations and thoughts on the social conditions in different periods of time, giving you intimate insights into his philosophies of art and life.

Travel China with me | A day trip in the K11 Art Shopping Mall 廣州好去處：K11人文藝術購物中心
There is a new landmark opened in the last day of March in Guangzhou, the K11 Art and shopping mall. K11 is a retail corporation aiming to encourage the integration of art, Sustainability and retail. There are eight K11 malls located in China and Hong Kong. And today, I'm going to introduce the one located in Guangzhou.
The K11 mall is located in the CBD area in Guangzhou, and next to the public Library. There are different art exhibitions and activities are holding at the moment with a theme of lighting. The mall itself is free to enter, but the exhibitions are costed RMB 35 for four of them. It seems to have a Sustainability related theme in few months later.
The decorations of the mall is gorgeous. It uses a lot of gold elements to represent a luxury vibe, and mix the natural elements for environmental awareness. A lot of real plants are growing inside the mall in hydroponics and soil cultivation, such as lettuce, mints, and cherry tomatoes. Also, the building itself won the A&D Trophy Awards, and is reaching a high level of environmental sustainable standard, like LEED standard. The design of the mall has various sustainable ideas such as raindrops collection, using local recycling materials and aiming to reduce the hot island effect.
