Wenchi Crater, Ethiopia
I took a trip back to Ethiopia to spend Thanksgiving weekend with some great family friends. This video documented a trip to a crater that Amy and I have been to once before, only this time I was able to hike down and explore a completely new valley. Some consider it the Garden of Eden. Hiking in Ethiopia - Wenchi Crater
You have now reached the Arctic Traveller’s corner of the internet. I am currently based in Ethiopia, so a lot of my content will be from this part of the globe, though I will share my other adventures as well. This instalment is filmed in and around Wenchi Crater, an absolute amazing hike. Our trek was about 21k long and took about 6 hours (breaks included). We stayed at Negash Resort, about an hour drive from the crater itself.

Wenchi Crater
A visit to the crater of an extinct volcano at Wenchi in Oromia, Ethiopia. It is located about 160 km west of Addis Ababa. The crater is home to around 4000 Oromo people. A jeep track washed and degraded by storms leads most of the way to the floor of the crater where there is a lake. On an island in the lake is the C16th Cherkos monastery. Tradiitional log dugout canoies can be seen on the lake. Filmed 6 May 2013.
