THOUSAND ISLANDS -
The Thousand Islands constitute an archipelago of 1,864 islands[1] that straddles the Canada–US border in the Saint Lawrence River as it emerges from the northeast corner of Lake Ontario. They stretch for about 50 miles (80 km) downstream from Kingston, Ontario. The Canadian islands are in the province of Ontario and the U.S. islands in the state of New York.
The islands range in size from over 40 square miles (100 km2) to smaller islands occupied by a single residence, or uninhabited outcroppings of rocks. To count as one of the Thousand Islands, emergent land within the river channel must have at least one square foot (0.093 m2) of land above water level year-round, and support at least two living trees.
BOLDT CASTLE -
Boldt Castle is a major landmark and tourist attraction in the Thousand Islands region of the U.S. state of New York. Open to guests seasonally between mid-May and mid-October. It is located on Heart Island in the Saint Lawrence River. Heart Island is part of the Town of Alexandria, in Jefferson County. Originally a private mansion built by an American millionaire, George Boldt, it is today maintained by the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority as a tourist attraction.
SINGER CASTLE -
Dark Island, a prominent feature of the Saint Lawrence Seaway, is located in the lower (eastern) Thousand Islands region, near Chippewa Bay. It is a part of the Town of Hammond, in St. Lawrence County, New York.A historic landmark on the island, The Towers, was long known as Dark Island Castle until recently renamed Singer Castle. The island is situated only a few yards south of the Canada-United States border that runs along the river.
The south side of the island is only about one hundred feet from the shipping channel, and cargo ships frequently pass the island. Because of the depth of the channel on one side, and the relative shallowness on the other, it is very good for sports fishing of largemouth bass and northern pike.
CAPE VINCENT – TIBBETS POINT LIGHTHOUSE-
Cape Vincent has a strong French heritage. After his brother, Joseph, established residence here in the early 1800s, the infamous Napoleon Bonaparte was to have settled in Cape Vincent, seeking refuge from the havoc he had wrought in Europe.
Located less than three miles west of Cape Vincent where the great Lake Ontario empties into the St. Lawrence River, this historic lighthouse shares Tibbets Point with an American Youth Hostel that is open from May to October. There is also a visitor's center, museum and gift shop on the grounds. A peaceful location to stop and enjoy the view.

The Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Destination, runs along our northern border through our region between Kingston and Ottawa. These iconic tourism attractions create signature experiences in an area also rich with culture and heritage.
Across the St. Lawrence River is Upper New York State, U.S.A.
