NGWE SAUNG BEACH - MYANMAR TRAVEL TIPS
If you prefer amazing beaches that are less commercialized and crowded than most beach destinations in Southeast Asia, discover Ngwe Saung Beach in Myanmar!!
Unlike Myanmar’s better-known beach at Ngapali, which is serviced by nearby Thandwe Airport, the only way to get to Ngwe Saung beach is a 4-5 hour drive from Yangon. The drive is rough with poor road conditions, limited visibility at night and is impassible during the wet season (May/June through early October). Most international visitors opt for a short 1-hour flight to Ngapali rather than a rough 4-5 hour drive to Ngwe Saung beach. However, Ngwe Saung has a good range of hotels that cater to all budgets and overall is a cheaper beach vacation than many similar beach destinations in SE Asia. The water is warm, the sand is clean, the surf is gentle, the sunsets are amazing, and the seafood is inexpensive, fresh, and delicious. One of the highlights for Alex is collecting hermit crabs in his sand bucket and then releasing them to see the pattern of trails they create as they scatter for freedom in every direction.
TRAVEL TIPS:
TIP #1
Hire a Yangon driver and vehicle. It’s about a 4 ½ - 5 hour drive. There are no English road signs! Your car navigation/ GPS will not work. Never drive in the dark. Road conditions are poor with lots of obstacles and very limited visibility.
TIP #2
Bring your own stuff. You probably won’t find your favorite trusted sunscreen or other personal items in the local town shops.
TIP #3
Do catch a FIRE DANCE!! It’s a high-energy show. There are several to choose from. Just ask your hotel for details.
TIP #4
Don’t be afraid to eat the delicious, fresh seafood. And get ready to enjoy some spectacular sunsets!!

Is this THE BEST BEACH in Southeast Asia? - Ngapali Beach, Myanmar
Ngapali Beach in Myanmar is THE place to be right now. Myanmar has opened it's borders and is now the better more authentic alternative to overcrowded Thailand. The beaches are as great and the people way friendlier. Ngapali Beach is a top-notch beach, stretching over 10 km of white sand and crystal-clear blue water.
NGAPALI BEACH HILTON RESORT & SPA - MYANMAR TRAVEL HIGHLIGHTS
Ngapali beach in Rakhine State is a short 45-minute flight from Yangon (RGN) to Thandwe (SNW). Ngapali has a lot of hotel options for all budgets. The Hilton Resort & Spa is one of the newer hotels, just a short drive from the airport. The rooms are modern, well-appointed and spacious. Some of the rooms even include private pools!! The resort restaurant food is reasonably priced and delicious! And the LARGE infinity pool is SPECTACULAR!! You could easily spend your entire vacation around the pool. Ngapali’s main beach area (seen in the video) is just a short 15-minute taxi ride from the Hilton Resort & Spa.

BEACHES IN MYANMAR - was it ALL FOR NOTHING?!
We have arrived at our destination. After 500 kilometres of blind hitchhiking, we arrived at the place the locals told us about. We had to have this place with us on our trip. But was it really worth it? You can see it in this video!
Rent scooters in Dawei?
At our destination in Dawei, in southern Myanmar, we have rented a scooter for about 6000 kyat (about 3,60€ or 4,50 $) per day. And with this scooter we drove from Dawei to the coast.
Best Beaches in Myanmar?
The best known place in this area is Maungmagan Beach. We basically started from there. Since we have seen locals who rode their scooters directly on the beach, we didn't miss this adventure and did it. From Maungmagan we drove basically blind to the south.
We made a stop at these places:
- Maungmagan Beach
- A fishing village to which there is no name, but if you drive down the coast from Maungmagan, it is the first place you can see.
- San Maria Bay (from the fishing village further south)
- Another beach, name unfortunately unknown, but further south of San Maria Bay.
From the last beach we did a loop via Launglon back to Dawei. On this way we found a lot of small villages without electricity, really interesting and exciting how the people live there.
Shortly before Dawei or at the city limits of Dawei we suddenly landed in a shopping mall, as we know it from Europe or Thailand. The name of the shopping center is DDPC Shopping Center. Really crazy on which worlds you come across in such short distances.
It was a really amazingly interesting and exciting day, and in our opinion the trip to the south of Myanmar DEFINITIVE was worth it! What do you think? Feel free to write it in the comments!

Ngwe Saung Beach in Myanmar
#NgweSaungBeach #Myanmar #Resort
Ngwe Saung Beach in Myanmar. It takes a time for 6 hours by bus from Yangon. The water and beach is clean. This beach is almost local beach, so it is almost local beach. Really quiet and not guests are little. The price is also cheap.
Near downtown of Hotels is expensive, one night is around US$ 80, but there are some guesthouses and cheap hotel in Ngwe Saung.
I stayed at Thazin Resort Hotel. One night is around US$ 8 to 10. This hotel is so far from downtown, but seaside hotel. The view is great.
There is no wifi, and the electric power is from 6pm to 6am, but the mobile internet can use. You can take a relaxing so much, and I recommend you to take some books.
It might be better nothing electric power, nothing internet. There is just the nature of view.

Best Things to Do in Mandalay in Three Days, Myanmar
Hi guys, I’m Péricles Rosa. Today I’m going to show you how to get the best out of three days in Mandalay.
One of the best things to do in Mandalay is to explore the city by bike. Mandalay is a flat city and its streets are laid out in a grid, so it’s almost impossible to get lost.
On a bike, you can get a better sense of the city and visit some of the most important points of interest.
I went to Maharani Buddha temple. To enter the temple, you have to take your shoes off and cover your knees, so I had to wear a longyi, a kind of skirt that is very popular in Myanmar.
This temple is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the country.
The Buddha statue, the most revered in Myanmar, is 3.8m tall and weighs 6.5 tons. To pay their respects, male devotees regularly apply gold leaf to the statue.
In the temple complex, there are also six large bronze Khmer statues, taken from Angkor Wat in Cambodia. You should put Maharani Buddha Temple on your things to do in Mandalay list.
After leaving the Mahamuni temple, I went to the stone-carving district along Sagaing-Mandalay Road.
It was fascinating to see the skilled craftsmen and –women using electrical tools to carve and sculpt the marble into beautifully delicate Buddha statues, before polishing and painting them. Visiting the stone-carving district is definitely one of the best things to do in Mandalay.
Another advantage of exploring by bike is discovering places or things you’d never imagined. This tower is part of Ma Soe Yein, the biggest monastery in Mandalay.
On to another monastery, this time the Shwenandan monastery, built in 1878 out of teak wood in the traditional Burmese style.
This was my favourite point of interest in Mandalay – the elaborate, intricate and very detailed carving work is awe-inspiring!
At the end of the afternoon, the best place to be in the city is Mandalay Hill. You can see for miles and the sunset is stunning. Watching the sunset in Mandalay Hill is one of the top things to do in Mandalay.
To finish a long first day, I visited Kyauk Tan Gyi, a pagoda that is colourfully lit up at night and has one of the biggest marble Buddha statues in the whole of Myanmar.
On my second day, I started off by hiring a motor taxi to take me to Amarapura, a township on the outskirts of Mandalay. There, at the Mahagandhayon Monastery, I witnessed the monks’ lunchtime ritual – a spectacular sight, with a thousand monks in burgundy robes lining up to collect their food donations.
To get to Sagging, my next destination, I took a bus but I was not prepared for what turned up! Holding on to the back of an overloaded truck was a bit uncomfortable and probably dangerous but I had a lot of fun.
Upon arrival, I visited the Kaunghmudan pagoda, a large temple on the outskirts of the town, before hitchhiking to Sagaing Hill.
My first stop was the U Min Thonze pagoda. This pagoda is stunningly colourful.
I visited some other points of interest in Sagaing. The city is famous for the hundreds of white pagodas, gold stupas and numerous monasteries that dot its hilly landscape.
Last stop in Sagging was the Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda.
In Mandalay, I visited a gold leaf workshop on the spur of the moment, where I saw the entire gold leaf making process. 12g of solid gold from the north of Mandalay and some bamboo paper are put in layers into a box made from deer leather. The box is then beaten until the gold is 0.0003mm thick and the gold leaf is formed.
On my last day in Mandalay, I took yet another form of transport, this time a ferry, to Mingun, about 11km away.
The principal tourist attraction is Mingun Pahtodangyi, a monumental unfinished pagoda.
Not far from the pagoda is the Mingun bell.
Nearby is the Hsinbyome pagoda, which is built in a very different style from all the other pagodas in Myanmar. I loved this very striking and distinctive pagoda! Taking a tour to Mingun is one of the top things to do in Mandalay area.
Time to go back to Mandalay and visit one of the most popular points of interest and historically important sites in the city, Mandalay Palace.
Very close to the palace is Sandamuni Paya, with its 1774 white stupas surrounding a central gilded pagoda. In front of Sandamuni is the Kuthodaw pagoda, built in a very similar style, where you can walk in between the stupas. Kuthodaw is very picturesque and undoubtedly one of the best things to do in Mandalay.
Then I went to Amarapura again, this time to watch the sunset over the U Bein bridge.
To finish my three days in Mandalay, I attended the world-famous Moustache Brothers’ show. Watching the Moustache Brothers’ show is definitely a memorable way to end your trip to Mandalay.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACH IN MYANMAR I NGAPALI BEACH
We were so happy to come to Ngapali beach in Myanmar. It directly became the most beautiful beach we saw so far in Asia. There are 3 beaches in Ngapali. This one is the one in the middle of them. There is absolutely nobody and no resorts. We loved this place so much! We hope you will too.
We have stayed in Golden Queen Guest House - absolutely clean, amazing staff and great breakfast!
