Forests represent life for plants, animals, and human communities all around the world, yet are under constant threat. The Pacific nation of the Solomon Islands is no exception. Home to 1,000 islands and over 7,000 native species, massive deforestation and the cultivation of oil palm, cocoa and other cash crops have led to a massive reduction in native species. This video, created by TaiwanICDF, looks at how in order to protect these vital ecological assets, Taiwan and the Solomon Islands Ministry of Forestry and Research teamed up to investigate and document its plant resources as well as protect germplasm resources.
