Independent since 1991, Belarus is a post-Soviet country that lives at the edges of Europe. Often mistaken for Russia, alike in many ways yet different, here you can take a look at the Belarus that I know and that I cherish - communist buildings, orthodox churches, lots of forests, Marc Chagall and big-hearted families. PS: the country is now reachable visa-free for 30 days, arriving at Minsk airport and leaving from there too.
