Hidden Highlands
It may be one of the most recognisable corners of Scotland, but there is still a lot you don’t know about the Highlands.
Witness the stark beauty of the region, with jagged cliffs, towering Munros and faraway castles framing the landscape. Explore the hidden history of Castle Sinclair Girnigoe, near Wick, or scale the summit of Stac Pollaidh, near Ullapool.
Go off the beaten track. Perhaps you’ll find that a mountain biking adventure is on the cards at the Abriachan Forest? Or, see what you can discover in the wildest corners of the Cairngorms National Park.
Feel the breeze as you explore some of the area’s most impressive yet undiscovered coastlines, from the pristine sands of Sanna Bay to the north westerly shores of Assynt.
Eat or drink something truly delicious –the region is famous for its produce, with restaurants cooking up freshly-caught seafood, homemade treats and quality meat. Try a dish at the Ghille Brighde Restaurant on the shores of Loch Torridon, and follow it up with a tasty dram of Speyside single malt.
For new experiences and unexpected discoveries, head for the Highlands!

Trail of the seven lochs from Inverness
60 mile solo backpacking hike starting and finishing at Inverness, 3 days walking, 2 nights wild camping. The official trail is 50 miles long and starts on South Loch Ness, taking a circular route through remote areas of South Loch Ness and passing... 7 lochs.
There is no official starting point so I started (and finished) from Inverness. Completed in June 2015.
The plan was to camp for a third night but due to excessive rain, I lost interest on the final day and rushed back to Inverness to catch the train, skipping 1 of the 7 lochs.
Walk from Braemar to Inverness - Day 6 (Highland Life)
In the final episode, I take the bus to Drumnadrochit and continue walking on the Great Glen Way to the Eco-Campsite where I spend my final night. I have a campfire and enjoy a well earned drink before walking the last 10 miles to Inverness the following morning, where I bump into a familiar face. Who could it be?

I have narrated the video speaking in Scottish Gaelic, using words and phrases I have been learning over the past year. Massive thanks goes to my Gaelic tutor Eòghan Stiùbhart for checking my script through and helping with a few pronunciations. Please take the time to head over to his YouTube channel for more quick Gaelic learning videos, I have included both English and Gaelic scipts at the bottom of this description if you are wondering what is being said.

Hestercombe House and Gardens, near Taunton, Somerset: February 2018
Take a look around the house and gardens of Hestercombe, near the village of Cheddon Fitzpaine in Somerset.
We were invited to visit Hestercombe, and looked around the beautiful house and some of its 50 acres of gardens. We were particularly keen to see Hestercombe's stunning Edwardian Formal Gardens, which were designed by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll.

Glenmore Forest Park, Aviemore
After completing our cycle of the Outer Hebrides, we also spent some time cycling in Glenmore Forest Park on the Rothiemurchus Estate. We cycled to Cairngorm Hostel; up and down some of the Cairngorm Mountain road then back to Aviemore the following day.

View of Loch Ness from the garden
An extremely mind-numbingly boring video showing the view of Loch Ness from our garden. Will you sit through it to the end just in case the Loch Ness monster appears or will you fall asleep at the crucial moment?
