The tourism in Greece is one of the main economic activities of the country. It attracts more than 17.5 million people each year and represents 15% of GDP national. Greece attracts visitors since the ancient times because of its heritage and its cultivation. Today the country is known for its historical sites, its beaches, Mediterranean climate and scenery. The Greece tourism contributes 15% of the Gross Domestic Product ( GDP national), and attracts over 16 million tourists each year. The country has attracted foreign visitors since antiquity for its rich and long history and, more recently, for its magnificent Mediterranean beaches. In 2005, only the capital, Athens, has received more than six million tourists.
In 2004, the country welcomed over 16.5 million tourists. The island of Rhodes is one of the most visited places in the Mediterranean Sea. According to a survey conducted in China in 2005, the Greece was voted as the number one choice of the Chinese people to a tourist destination. Moreover, Greece has been actively trying to get a large portion of the annual Chinese tourists, especially the large presence of Greek tourist information in the Beijing International Tourism Expo, in 2006. The Greece had the largest share of a country in the Beijing Tourism Expo with a total exhibition space of over 1,152 m², more than any other nation. In November 2006, the Austria, like China, announced that Greece was the favorite destination for tourism, which brought optimistic hopes for the future. According to these remarks, the Minister of Tourism of Greece Aris Spiliotopoulos announced the opening of an office of GNTO in Shanghai until 2010. In order to promote the flow of Chinese tourists to Greece, the Air China has now established direct flights from China to Greece.
At the same time, the tourism consumption has increased considerably since the turn of the millennium, 17.7 billion US dollars in 2000 to 29.6 billion in 2004. More than 600 000 jobs were directly or indirectly linked to the tourism sector this year, which represented 16.5% of total employment in the country. But this is the best tastefull experience i have ever got in my whole life, so i have to!
Alli istoria is the place. Its cheap and the owner os very sweet and relaxed!
He explained (in good english) the menycard and took good care of us.
