Algoma District in northern Ontario, Canada
This slideshow is about Algoma, a wilderness district in northern Ontario. Hundreds of kilometres of deep woods, lakes, rivers. Very few people and cars. I took these photos during a couple of trips. Mississagi River and Little White River (the smaller one) are shown.
Black bears, wolves, coyotes, skunks and other critters roam.
There are wonderful roads for motorcycling (highway 129 and 546), plenty of ATV trails, and plenty of nice hiking.

Ships need to go through the locks to go from one lake to another. This lock is located near Niagara Falls and helps ships transit between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
ATVing the 1006a OFSC Trail to the Lake from Hartsmere Rd.
If your looking for a short run on your ATV, to a nice scenic spot this is a good one. It's 7.2 Klm from the HiddenCove Cottage Resort(this is 32klm east of Bancroft Ontario on the Hartsmere Rd.) to a nice little lake by the first junction on the 1006a OFSC snowmobile trail (the trail starts 2klm south of the cottage resort). This is a crown land trail, and is part of the Ontario (multi-use) Trail System. Unless your a real ATV enthusiast this 1 hour video might be a little boring to watch, but it shows the entire route displayed by connecting the black dots on the map at the start of the video. If your planning to do this run, this video will show you everything on the trail to the lake. If your looking for more, the trail continues on from this lake and junction, through McCarther Mills and around Lake Weslemkoon and joins up with the forest access trail for a ride of almost 100klm+ back to the Hartsmere Rd. about 4klm north of Hiddencove... This was my first helmet cam attempt, and was shot using a JVC Action Cam, at 720p. The next time I shoot something like this I will bump it up to 1080p. The Action cam is small, waterproof, and very light, but the sound is terrible. The mic is buffeted by wind, and it has no place to plug in a external mic. They tell me that putting a piece of tape over the mic hole cures the buffeting problem, but you still can't hear my voice over the Kodiak 450 engine. When the engine is off it seems to pick up my voice just fine. A Go-Pro, even though it needs a waterproof housing to keep it dry, would probably be better.. Watch for the 4 deer jumping off the road into the bush on the left hand side starting at the 57:18 minute mark.. Anyway enjoy the video. I am also putting together a similar one that shows the run out the Forest Access road from Hartsmere Rd., and hope to do more in the future in some other areas.. There was a bear attack in Peterborough this same week, and this is 'Bear Country'. So, when in the bush, I usually travel with a unloaded 12 Gauge folding stock shotgun on the front of the ATV and a pocket full of 3 Magnum Slugs, 'just in case' (It's illegal to transport a loaded firearm). The folding stock allows me to put it in the seat trunk, and out of sight for general transportation when not needed. For those of you that are 'anti-firearm', I'm sure you will have no problem what-so-ever explaining your views to the bear. A good firearm is like a good parachute. You don't need one until you 'REALLY' need one, and if you don't have one, you will probably never need one again..
The Benmiller Inn & Spa in Goderich, Ontario
During my trip to Goderich I spent 2 nights at the lovely Benmiller Inn & Spa.
The Benmiller Inn offers a beautiful setting on the bank on the Maitland River and it's just a short 10-minute drive in the Goderich town center.
The property is made up of a few different buildings that offer a wide range of different types of accommodation and during your stay at you can spend your time swimming in the indoor pool, relaxing at the spa, or wandering around the numerous hiking trails nearby.
I had a spacious room in one of the buildings right on the river that offered an incredible view of the surrounding natural scenery.
I also had a chance to try out the restaurant on the property and I definitely recommend grabbing a meal there if you have the opportunity yourself.
I wrote an in-depth review of the experience that I had during my stay and you can check out my review here:
If you're planning a visit to Goderich and Huron County then I would definitely recommend checking out the Benmiller Inn & Spa for your accommodation.
