Bali Villa for rent with staff and private pool Villa Rumah Lotus Lovina, near beach, Indonesia
Villa Rumah Lotus in Lovina,(private pool, staff and breakfast included) is 500 Meters from the beach, shops and market. Through the website Airbnb you can rent this villa. A large 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with a tropical garden and a lovely private pool. I can highly recommend this villa. When we woke up the staff was already at work. Breakfast and working hours in consultation. Kadek was the cook who made our breakfast. Every morning we started with a plate of fresh fruit or a smoothie. After the fruit we got every day something different like banana pancake, sandwich or toast with omelette or boiled egg. The staff will do everything to make your holiday unforgettable. On request Kadek could also provide dinner. This was not included in the price. We asked her to surprise us every day with a Balinese meal and she did. All the ingredients she used were fresh and the sauces she made from scratch. Much was steamed in banana leaves and everything tasted equally delicious. You pay just as much as at a local restaurant but the quality is much higher. Moreover, you get dishes that aren`t on the menu in a tourist restaurant. She is approximately 2 hours busy preparing a meal. Then she cleans the kitchen, doing the dishes and makes coffee or tea. We can definitely recommend you to ask Kadek to make your dinner. Komang ensures a clean house, and can do the laundry (pay per kg). Putu took care of the garden and pool. There is a beautiful garden full of tropical plants and flowers and a lovely private pool. Sacrifices were offered daily by Kadek in the little temples in the garden.
Lovina is a relatively new name coined in the 1950s by the late king of Buleleng (Buleleng Regency) Anak Agung Panji Tisna, with a good eye for future tourism-based development. It started with small lodge built on his own land and named Lovina. After going through struggle of ups and downs, finally the community accepted the presence of Lovina. Nowadays the name Lovina is used for the stretch of seven traditional villages, which all slightly merge into one over ten kilometersof the main road which hugs the north coast to the west of Singaraja: Temukus, Kalibukbuk, Anturan, Pemaron, Tukad Mungga, Banyualit and Kaliasem. Kalibukuk is the main hub of this area and is often thought of Lovina town centre.
If traveling along the main coast road from Singaraja, you turn towards the Lovina coast at the only set of traffic lights on the entire north road. Impressive Balinese gates frame the entrances to the two roads where most of the restaurants and hotels are. Western style minimarts and ATMs are located on the busy main road. Lovina offers very reasonably priced accommodation from no star home stays to about three star resorts with pools. Posh private villas are tucked away all along the coast too. Food is cheaper than Ubud or the south coast by about a third.
The whole stretch of coastline in the north is fringed by quite narrow black sand beaches, which are accessed by a multitude of small lanes which run perpendicular to the east-west coast road. The beaches are generally safe for swimming, and the waters of Bali's north coast, in direct contrast to the crashing surf of the south, are relatively calm. From a distance, the water does not look too clean due to the colour of the sand but it is in fact almost always crystal clear. The locals do make an attempt to clear away plastic flotsam too.
Diving, snorkelling fishing dolphin watching, diving on coral reefs are the main activities, but perhaps above all else, this is an area in which to relax and take in a very slow, traditional pace of life. Lovina is ideal for family groups with young children or older adventurers who want to kick back and quickly become part of the community. It can get a little crowded in July and August, but outside that peak season, this is a quiet part of the island.

20060908 Kalibaru, Margo Utomo - Bali, Lovina Banyualit (Indonesia)
This morning we check out of Margo Utomo Agri Resort and make the last pictures here: of a cicak against the wall, of a beautiful Dutch water colour painting (certainly dating from the colonial period), of lovely flowers of the botanic garden of the resort. On our way to the ferry for Bali we stop by at a cattle market and awe at the sight a just bought sheep being tightened on the luggage carrier of a motorcycle... Nice pics of a bunch of cow backs in all nuances between brown and blonde. Sheep and lambs close the range of cattle here. Then to the retail market for cattle adornments and so on, followed by a stall which lots of Garibaldi hats on sale. Then hundreds of reaping hooks and other agricultural tools.
A hammer vendor also sells a typical Indonesian kite in the shape of a demon head. A photograph of a young policeman when he addresses our driver. Then on the road again and after some time we arrive at the Ketapan ferry. The waiting time for the ferry boat we use for a chat, a look at the boy with a monkey on a long fine chain.
In the distance the silhouette of Bali is to be seen. Near by the gorgeous blue water which sparks the idea to swim to Bali in a few hours. But remembering the newspaper articles of overloaded ferry boats which capsized in these waters, forcing all the passengers and ferryboat personnel to get into the water of whom just a small number survived because of the strong sea current between Java and Bali, notorious for the numerous sharks which cruise these waters, known as the Bali Straits .....
So we stay where we are and gaze at the young money divers in the still gorgeous blue water.
When eventually sailing away from Ketapan (Java) our ferry boat fortunately doesn't appear overcrowded and the weather is fine.
After arriving in Cilimanuk (Bali) we drive through an uninhabited area for hours as it seems. Our first real Balinesian sight is a beautiful adorned Buddhist gate at the entrance of Labuhan Lalang.
Further we go with the blue sea peeping through passing vegetation now and then.
For hours as it seems we drive behind a pickup loaded with chicken jammed in cages and in two baskets fastened on the back of the cages. Between the baskets one chicken hangs upside down with its claws attached to one of the cages....
Efforts to pass by the pickup are in vain. But the cruel sight before us starts to irritate, and for our driver the road seems longer than before. So he forces an escape and then tries to win time by racing. But we control him by yelling Hati hati!! (Carefull!!) from time to time which helps somewhat.
Eventually we arrive at the splendid Lovina Banyualit Hotel in Lovina Kalibukbuk.
When we enjoy our welcome drinks together with Sol, he refuses the receptionist's offer to stay for one night before returning for Malang. When we urge him to have at least supper before returning, he gives in. We say at last goodbye to this good lad who became a friend during the days he guided us so well.
The day ends with a delicious Balinese meal in an open arbour near the swimming pool and a stroll to the nearby beach in the dark where fishing boats light up by our camera flashes. Again a day with new experiences came to a good end.
