Naxos is the most gorgeous Greek island. Naxos is the perfect destination for summer vacations. As we will show in this video, it offers something for everybody. There are many stunning beaches to enjoy the sun, crystal clean see, many monuments to discover its history, plenty of restaurants to taste Greek cuisine, small towns with unique atmosphere and picturesque landscapes. And the big plus is that it is not the main tourist destination of Greece, so we didn't have this feeling of mass tourism.

Naxos Town Trip
Naxos is a Greek island in the South Aegean, the largest of the Cyclades island group. Its fertile landscape spans mountain villages, ancient ruins and long stretches of beach. The namesake capital (also called Hora or Chora) is a port town filled with whitewashed, cube-shaped houses and medieval Venetian mansions. Kastro, a hilltop castle dating to the 13th century, houses an archaeological museum.

In September we went one week to a beautiful Cycladic island in Greece, that surprised us so much!
We hired a quad bike, explored amazing places, went sailing on the beautiful Aegean Sea, swam in crystal clear waters, jumped off cliffs, ate the best food in the world and had endless sunny days.

Naxos Greece travel guide of the island
This video shows you in detail a Naxos Greece travel guide of the island. We spent the whole day after renting a scooter driving through all of the small towns which included Chora, Filoti, Chalkio, Apeiranthos, Koronos, and Apollonas. The views are stunning, there are lots of coffee shops, distilleries bakeries to choose from. We even went to a small fishing Village and had pizza. We did this in May so it was pretty windy and even cold at times on the scooter. Our suggestion would definitely do this route as there's a lot to see, tons of history, churches etc. If you're not in summer you might want to rent a car.

It is very hard to provide a complete image of the island without making the video absurdly long,since there are so many beautiful and unique locations to film.What you can see in this video is but a tiny fraction of the full experience.

Naxos - island of natural beauty HD
Enjoy the historic Castro quarter, the giant Portara (part of a the uncompleted Apollon temple), beautiful Plaka beach and much more.
According to Greek mythology, Theseus left Ariadne on Naxos because the god Dionysos demanded her.
Naxos as the largest and one of the most beutiful cycladic island features many splendid villages such as Apeiranthos, built in marble, the small harbor settlement Apollonas, and Halki with its famous Kitron liquor distillery. But there is much more to discover, e.g. the temple of Demeter, and the Kouros (a half-finished colossal marble statue) left behind from 2.500 years ago. And let's not forget the amazing Buzouki concert at the Venetian Castle...

Moutsouna Beach is on the southeastern coast of Naxos. Moutsouna has recently become a lovely tourist resort. The southeastern coast of Naxos is one of the most beautiful areas on the island. Moutsouna is full of taverns, has amenities and rooms to let nearby. The beach is not organized with umbrellas and chairs and is quite relaxing. It is a long sandy beach with clear, shallow water.
Near the village is a unique emery mine, as well as marble and granite quarries. Also unique is how the emery miners carried the precious cargo from Koronos through Apeiranthos to the seaside village of Moutsouna. At the beginning of the last century they built an aerial cable-way that crossed these villages and moved the emery more cheaply to ships sent from the island to other destinations. Part of the cable-way is still standing and visible from Moustouna.

On the Greek Islands we get familiar with the ferries as we island-hop the Aegean. Sun-drenched, upscale and exotic, Santorini sits on the rim of an ancient, but still active, volcano. At one end of the island, the archeological site at Akrotiri uncovers a city frozen in time by the volcano's eruption 3,600 years ago. The island of Naxos offers serenity, a low-keyed pace and bargain accommodations. Its massive marble quarries and kouros sculptures were the toast of ancient Greece. We catch some R&R on trendy Mykonos, and then head to sacred Delos—an uninhabited island covered entirely with ancient ruins, and the place where the great god Apollo was born. Tips: Discovering little off-the-beaten-path surprises.
