Route 66 United States
Affectionately dubbed the Mother Road, this 2,400-mile route was the first all-weather, continuously paved highway linking Chicago and Los Angeles. The storied path is legendary for spawning America's signature roadside architecture and attractions, vestiges of which remain today.

Travel blogs from Route 66:
- Even more interesting was that in front of the place was literally the only place along route 66 where they specially created a 4 lane highway back in the route 66 heyday (50's or so) due to the traffic
- I'm also driving on the Interstate as it's the only route west in this part of Arizona the old, historical, Route 66
- We got in a cab and headed to our motel which was just up Route 66
- Keeping with the theme of the day, I unexpectantly stumbled along to famous Route 66 and spent the night in a hotel right on the side of the road
- From here we ploughed on down historic route 66 towards stopping along the way at a roadside trading post place full of route 66 memorabilia and souvenirs
- After the late start and bad weather, we chose to take the interstate I-44 which is over most of the original Route 66 - to follow the true route requires some real dedication and getting off the interstate for every small town, which we decided not

Wigwam Motel in Holbrook Arizona - Route 66 Roadside Attraction
The Wigwam Motel in Holbrook Arizona, we stopped here on our Route 66 Road Trip.

The Wigwam Motels, also known as the Wigwam Villages, is a motel chain in the United States built during the 1930s and 1940s. The rooms are built in the form of tipis, mistakenly referred to as wigwams.[3] It originally had seven different locations: two locations in Kentucky and one each in Alabama, Florida, Arizona, Louisiana, and California.
They are very distinctive historic landmarks. Two of the three surviving motels are located on historic U.S. Route 66: in Holbrook, Arizona, and on the city boundary between Rialto and San Bernardino, California. All three of the surviving motels are listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the Wigwam Motel in Cave City, Kentucky, was listed in 1988 under the official designation of Wigwam Village #2; the Wigwam Motel in Arizona was listed as Wigwam Village #6 in 2002; and the Wigwam Motel in California was listed in 2012 as Wigwam Village #7.
