Interlaken is situated in the plains of the valley; not in the mountains. It is surrounded by the Bernese Alps though: the Jungfrau can easily be seen from the town center. The town is located on the edge of 3 regions: the Jungfrau region, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. 'Interlaken' in fact means 'in between the lakes'. We took a bus ride to catch a glimpse of the city.

The church my Ancestors got married in | SWITZERLAND Travel Vlog

This week I continue to explore my ancestors in Switzerland, in the little village Schiers.
My 9 times great grandparents Christian Pitschi and Magdalena Meyer lived in the little mountain village I visited last week. They were married and had their 9 children baptised in Schiers. And this week I met up with Karin who had the keys to the church, so I could actually check it out on the inside.
A very powerful experience and so grateful that I had this opportunity, I am aware that it is very rare to know the exact church that you ancestors were married in going as far back as early 1600, when the family has crossed 2 boarders since then.
I also visit the only local landmark, the Salginatobel Bridge and get a distant view of Fajauna, the village my 9 times great grandmother supposedly came from before she married Christian Pitschi.
In Schiers I booked a room at the Prättigauerhof.. I wanted something local to get a sense of the area, It was nothing fancy, but just perfect for my stay:)

The Fronalpstock is a 1922 m above sea level. M. mountain of the Schwyzer Alps in the canton of Schwyz in Morschach municipality. The western slope of the Fronalpstock ends at Lake Lucerne. Even the ride with the chairlift from the Bergdorf Stoos is pure relaxation.

Basel is a city in northwestern Switzerland on the river Rhine. Basel is Switzerland's third-most-populous city, after Zürich and Geneva, with about 175,000 inhabitants.
The town hall is a representative building in Basel. The building, located directly on the Basler Marktplatz, is characterized by its red sandstone and the striking tower.
The red sandstone Münster, is one of the foremost late-Romanesque/early Gothic buildings in the Upper Rhine.The City Hall from the 16th century is located on the Market Square and is decorated with fine murals on the outer walls and on the walls of the inner court.
