On Thursday 14th April night, a magnitude-6.5 earthquake knocked down houses and buckled roads in Kumamoto, Kyushu, the south area of Japan.
The temblor logged a 7, the highest level on the Japanese intensity scale. In suite, a magnitude-7.3 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture early Saturday 16th April. These earthquakes and continuing afterquakes givecasualty figures of 49 killed and more than 2,000 injured, over 190000 evacuees (just after the 2nd big quake). Thousands of homes were destroyed, or other homes rendered temporarily uninhabitable by disconnected utilities, overturned furniture, trashed possessions and rotting food. Victims are silent on the stress of coping with continued aftershocks, and the discomforts of being reduced to living in evacuation shelters or cars. Roads and railways have been severed by a series of powerful earthquakes and a massive landslide. Tthey are actually suffering even from the difficiency of water.

This time, we, our friends, musicians, artists, japanese community and it's international friends in Budapest have decided to organize a charity concert for the victims of the earthquakes in Kyushu region of Japan with the collaboration of Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra, violonist Kristóf Baráti and other various musiciens and dancers on 22nd May in Budapest.

A Japanese NPO in Kumamoto, Itadaki-Earth, supports Kumamoto recovery projects.
More than 1,000 seismic events had been recorded ranging from minor jolts to the magnitude-7.3 temblor that occurred two days after the initial April 14 quake in Kumamoto.
Japanese NGO “Itadaki-Earth” has been active in Kumamoto based in Ashikita village, in southwest of Kumamoto. The motto of “Itadaki-Earth” is delivering safe and reliable food and house hold products that are earth friendly, produced and managed in a sustainable manner across Japan. Their approach is to connect local suppliers and buyers, learn and develop together the best system to promote well-being of the public through permaculture, art and education.
NGO “Itadaki-Earth” has set up a task forth to support reconstruction projects in Kumamoto, focused on the area isolated from the major life-line support activities initiated by Japanese local municipalities, government and international NGO agencies. Together with the local network, they have built a bridge to carry all the supports and kind generosities to the places most needed.
