Mountain view of the city Borama, Awdal, Somaliland
Borama is a mountainous, green and hilly city and is the second biggest city in the self-declared state of Somaliland. Borama is the capital city of the Awdal region which is comprised of four districts: Borama, Lughaya, Baki and Zeila. It is a city rich in history (it was part of the great kingdom of Adal) and known for many firsts; Amoud university is the first post-civil war university in Somalia (it used to be a high school which was around for many decades), it has the first school for deaf children in the country and is home to the first hospital dedicated exclusively to treating fistula (NBFH).
It is a very beautiful city and the people there are renowned for their friendliness and hospitality. The mountains mostly surround the city and there are two large tectonic plates that converge which cause small earthquakes that happen very rarely.
It has stunning landscapes, valleys, trees, mountains and gardens. This is a well loved city and I pray that it never sees dark days.
To end with the words of famous Somali poet Hadraawi:
“Indhihii Basaasow
Borama Ma Aragteen?”
“To the tired, weary, eyes
have you ever seen Borama?”

Ethiopian FM says officials have been in contact with kidnappers; troops in Somalia
SHOTLIST
1. Reception desk at hotel
2. SOUNDBITE: (English) Seyoum Mesfin, Ethiopian Foreign Minister:
Well nothing really new, but what I can confirm (to) you again, these people are safe, they are safe and they are OK. What we have all to understand is the situation requires patience and utmost care. We are still trying our best through our contacts, through various means, to urge those who are responsible for this kidnapping to release these people safe, and the earlier the better. That's what we are doing, and what is most important is that these people are safe.
3. Reception desk at hotel
4. SOUNDBITE: (English) Seyoum Mesfin, Ethiopian Foreign Minister:
We have not confirmed this because it won't be all that useful, but those who are responsible are being reached through different channels and we are hoping that these people will be freed unharmed and safe.
5. Reception desk at hotel
6. SOUNDBITE: (English) Seyoum Mesfin, Ethiopian Foreign Minister:
It is not contingent to the deployment of the African mission, our troops have done their job and they can be withdrawn anytime.
7. Seyoum's car drives away
STORYLINE:
The government has been in contact with the kidnappers of a European tour group, Ethiopia's foreign minister said on Saturday.
Those who are responsible are being reached through different channels and we're hoping that these people will be released unharmed, Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin told journalists.
Seyoum did not give any other details about the contacts.
He said that the captives are in the Afar region that straddles Ethiopia and neighbouring Eritrea but declined to speculate in which country they are being held.
We urge those who are responsible for this kidnapping to release those people safe, and the earlier, the better, Seyoum said.
The minister emphasised the captives were safe, but advised patience on the matter.
The group - five employees of the British Embassy in Addis Ababa or their relatives - were abducted along with 13 Ethiopian drivers or translators on March 1.
Four of the Europeans are believed to be British citizens, including one of Italian origin; the other is French. Five of the Ethiopians are believed to have escaped or been released.
British Embassy officials were not immediately available for comment on Saturday.
British and Italian officials said on Friday that they had information that the group was unharmed, but they had not been able to independently confirm this.
Seyoum said that his country won't use military force to try to secure the tour group's release, something he first said on Friday.
Police in Afar say their investigations show the group was kidnapped by dozens of armed men and taken into Eritrea. Eritrea has denied any involvement.
Relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea have been strained since Eritrea gained independence from the Addis Ababa government in 1993 following a 30-year guerrilla war.
Seyoum also commented on the withdrawal of Ethiopian troops from neighbouring Somalia.
It is not contingent to the deployment of the African mission, our troops have done their job and they can be withdrawn anytime, he said.
On Friday officials said Ethiopian troops, who helped Somalia's government oust a radical Islamic militia left the southern city of Kismayo, which is now under the control of Somali forces.
Ethiopia has been pulling its troops out of Somalia as African Union peacekeepers arrive. About 1,000 AU troops, all from Uganda, have arrived since Tuesday in the capital, Mogadishu.

Egypt was invaded by the eurasiatic invaders ,and many Ancient Egyptians migrated back to their land of Punt . Somali Egyptian-Puntite language and culture and even DNA were preserved in the horn of Africa . This archaeological busts found after excavations in Somali territory can resolve the famous racist debate about the origins of the pharaohs . We can just say thank you to 'Allah ' God ,who is always against the lies and racism !
SHALEY BAAD DHALATEE WAA LA SHUBI JIREY = Somali proverb saying: 'You were born yesterday but we used to pour ''
History :
'Hoo'= to Offer,Offering,hold, in Somali-Egyptian languages
Teb= to miss someone or something
So, Hoo-Teb means 'Missed Offering' !
Somali Culture of the Land of Punt, in the Somali Peninsula of the Horn of Africa ruled Egypt until Europ , Qayaad Muuse ,Cadmos in european version, was an ancient Egyptian originally from the south of Egypt 'Dado', Thebes,he introduced the hieroglyphical alphabet in Greece .The current alphabet used by Europ ,was originally African and you can still explain the alphabet with the Somali language if you learn the hieroglyphical symbols of the pharaohs .For example the lettre 'b' was symbolized in Ancient Egyptian language by the image of a foot .Foot is called B-T, 'Biit,Biito' in Ancient Egyptian language and also in Somali language .A traditional game especially performed by Somali children repeats this word 'biito' by touching the feet, They say at the end 'Biitooy laabo' ='Bend your foot'biito'.So, don't think that the bet of alpha bet is from the 'beyt' which means 'house in arabic ,but from the bet ,beeto, biito in somali:foot in Somali-Pharaonic language .Just observ the shape of letter 'b' which is not a house but a foot . We can continue this traditional symbology in the hieroglyphs ,another example is the letter 'M' symbolized by an owl called 'GuuMays' in Somali and Ancient Egyptian .Hieroglyphical alphabet was made by the pharaohs, excellent teachers who can help their children to remember easily the glyphs or letters. Somali language is a surviving Egyptian-Puntite language .Learn it ,because . you can avoid many obstacles and understand many mysterious rites of the pharaohs still practiced by Somali people . In “The Making of Egypt” 1939. Petrie states that the Land of Punt was “sacred to the Egyptians as the source of their race.”
Again the representations of the early Puntites, or Somali people, on the Egyptian monuments, show striking resemblances to the Egyptians themselves. 'The Wisdom of the Egyptians ' By Brian Brown New York: Brentano's1923
In addition to the erection and endowments of many temples listed in the Palermo Stone, the Pharaohs of the Fifth Dynasty were active, as the King Sahure ,2458-2446 B.C., from this Egyptian Old Kingdom, Dynasty V ,2498-2491 B.C.. Egyptian ships also reached the shores of the land of Punt on the Somali coast to procure highly valued cargoes of myrrh, ebony and animals, among other goods. Exclusive: U.N. Experts Wary Of Somaliland Plan For Armed Oil Protection Unit
U.N. experts warn that plans by Somalia's breakaway enclave Somaliland to deploy special forces to protect foreign oil companies could worsen conflicts in the long unstable Horn of Africa. A confidential May 27 letter to the U.N. Security Council sanctions committee on Somalia and Eritrea, obtained by Reuters on Friday, recommends the panel consider whether the planned armed unit could be viable or not. The experts, who monitor sanctions violations, said in July that Western commercial oil exploration in disputed areas and discrepancies over which authorities can issue licenses to companies could cause more fighting in Somalia.
