Operating on similar lines to the city passes available in the other Scandinavian capitals, the Oslo Pass is good value for tourists. As well as free admission to over 30 museums, the pass offers unlimited local travel on all forms of transport (including the ferries plying the waters between the city and the islands of the Oslofjord), free entrance to Tøyenbadet and Frognerbadet swimming pools and free parking in the municipal car parks. It also gives price reductions on sightseeing trips and numerous other discounts, including for cinemas, restaurants, car hire and souvenir shops. You can buy cards for one, two or three days (concessions are available) at the tourist information office, hotels, Narvesen newsagents and various other outlets.
Akershus Slott and Festning (Akerhus Palace and Fortress)
King Haakon V Magnusson ordered the building of Akershus Slott, in 1299. Although damaged, repaired, fortified and renovated over the centuries, the ancient walls and central medieval tower of this imposing fortified palace still dominate the seafront. The town was rebuilt within the fortress walls after the great fire of 1624. The 17th-century renovations of the castle, with magnificent banqueting halls and reception rooms, stand above dank medieval dungeons and underground passageways. The grounds also house the Norges Hjemmefrontsmuseum (Resistance Museum), with its poignant exhibits dating from the Nazi occupation of Norway.
Opening Times: Mon-Sat 1000-1600, Sun 1230-1600 (May-Aug); Sat-Sun 1200-1700, Mon-Fri closed (Sep-Dec). Guided tours of the Festning are available daily (Jun-Aug).

Frognerbadet
Next to the wonderful Vigeland Sculpture Park, the open-air swimming pool complex of Frognerbadet is one of the most popular summer spots in the city. With three open-air pools, including a diving pool, water slides and separate adult and children sections, the entire city seems to pack into the complex at weekends, although many Norwegians make the most of the glorious summer days, with everyone from families to groups of friends converging on the pools every single day of the week. The weekend often sees long queues so a morning visit is recommended. Frognerbadet is well equipped with changing rooms, toilets and a cafeteria.

Munch Museet (Munch Museum)
The Munch Museum, to the east of the city centre, lies in the broad parklands of Tøyenhagen, close to the museums of the Bygdøy peninsula. The National Gallery might have Munch's best-known work, but the Munch Museum has some real gems, including Summer Night/The Voice and his 1902 Madonna. The museum hit the headlines in 2004 when two of the most famous works were stolen, but has stepped up security since then. The museum also hosts an ever-changing roster of exhibitions giving an insight into different aspects of Munch's oeuvre.

Vigeland Sculpture Park
Unusual, unique and occasionally spooky, the Vigeland Sculpture Park is home to over 200 bronze, granite and cast iron sculptures by 20th-century artist Gustav Vigeland who was also responsible for the design of the park itself, and the stunning stained-glass windows of the cathedral. Located in the southern borough of Frogner, the sculpture park is one of Norway's most visited attractions with over 1 million visitors each year, although thanks to its large acreage, it never feels crowded.

Public transport:
Oslo has a comprehensive and efficient public transport network of trains, buses, trams, ferries and underground (T-Bane), mostly operated by Oslo Sporveier. You can buy single-trip tickets, day passes and eight-day transferable passes from ticket offices across the city, as well as the Oslo Pass, which includes access to all public transport, apart from late-night buses and trams. The Oslo Pass also allows you free access to more than 30 attractions, free guided walking tours and generous discounts elsewhere.
In general, tickets aren't especially cheap, but fines for travelling without a ticket are even steeper, so don't be tempted to go without. Some 50 separate bus lines and eight different tram lines cover the city. You can board these opposite Oslo S station on Jerbanetorget, with tickets available from the driver. The Oslo T-Bane consists of five underground lines.
Båtservice Sightseeing A/S operates seasonal ferries (April to October) from City Hall to Bygdøy Island, where many museums are situated. Other small ferries operate from Vippetangen, just behind Akershus Slott, to all the harbour basin islands.

Taxis:
You can find taxi ranks throughout the city, mainly near the shopping centre, city squares and outside Oslo S station. Oslo has four car taxi lines: City Taxi (tel: 02322), Norgestaxi AS (tel: 08000), Oslo Taxi (tel: 02323) and Taxi 2 (tel: 02202). The city also has two helicopter taxi services, Heliwing (tel: 9809 5000) and Nor Aviation (tel: 6495 6495); one seaplane taxi, Fonnafly (tel: 6710 5050); and one boat, Fjord taxi (tel: 9004 0999), which you can also charter for private trips on the fjord.
Driving:
Driving in Oslo is fairly straightforward. However, the city is relatively small and has an excellent public transport system, so a car is unnecessary unless you're planning longer trips. Rush hour (0700 to 0900 and 1500 to 1800) is best avoided, and navigating your way round can be difficult, as there is a complicated one-way system.
Another plus point for public transport is that parking is a nightmare in Oslo, and prices can be steep. Payment is usually required Monday to Friday 0800-1700, and until 1500 on Saturday. Municipal parking spots are free to Oslo Pass holders. There are daytime car parks at C J Hambros Plass, Prinsens gate, Christian Krohgsgate, Oslo Plaza, Asker Stasjon and Skøyen Stasjon.
Car hire:
The major car hire providers are Avis, Munkedamsveien, Budget, Munkedamsveien , and Hertz, Holbergsgate. The minimum age for hiring a car is 21 years and a credit card will be required as security. The driver must have a national driving licence (in Roman script), which he/she has held for a minimum of one year. Insurance is mandatory and tends to be included in the cost of the hire.
Bicycle hire:
You can pick up Oslo city bikes from over 100 locations in and around the city centre and these are available from 0600 to 2400 every day. Oslo Bysykkel works on a pre-paid smartcard system, and you can rent cards at the tourist information offices for 24 hours. It's worth bearing in mind that you can only rent a maximum of two smartcards per credit card (not helpful if you're travelling in a big group) and if you lose the card, you can expect a hefty fine. The video first shows parts of the county of Telemark. Telemark is located in southeastern Norway, extending from Hardangervidda to the Skagerrak coast. Eidsborg Stave Church is one of the best preserved Norwegian stave churches. Eidsborg Stave Church is located next to the Vest-Telemark Museum in Eidsborg, near the municipality Tokke, near Dalen.

In Dalen you also find the beautiful and luxurious hotel Dalen. Dalen Hotel is a historic hotel in Dalen in the municipality of Tokke in Telemark county, Norway. The luxury Dalen Hotel, once a popular locale for European royalty, is one of the largest wooden buildings in Norway and one of the best preserved hotels of its size from the 1800s.
The hotel is located in eastern Dalen on the shores of Bandak lake. The hotel owners operate a ferry service along the Telemark Canal, which during the warmer seasons has daily trips between Skien and Dalen on the historic passenger ships MS Henrik Ibsen and MS Victoria. The hotel can also be accessed by road on Fylkesvei 38 and 45, which extends down from E134 to the north. (Wikipedia:
Next, the video takes you to the county of Rogaland. Visit Stavanger city, or travel to Tau by ferry to the mountains to reach the Pulpit Rock. Access to Preikestolen from Stavanger is via the RV13 road and the ferry from Tau.
A round-trip hike to Preikestolen from the closest car park takes about 3–4 hours for someone of average fitness.
The walk to Preikestolen is very steep in places. The path starts at the Preikestolhytta, at an elevation of approximately 270 metres (886 feet) above sea level, and climbs to 604 metres (1982 feet). The hike takes 1–3 hours depending on experience and fitness level. Even though the elevation differential is only 334 metres (1096 feet) and the walk is not particularly long (3.8 km each way), the total elevation gain and loss over the course of the hike is more than one might initially expect, as the path climbs and descends various ridges (Wikipedia:

Moss is a coastal town and a municipality in Østfold county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Moss. The city of Moss was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The rural municipality of Jeløy was merged with the city on 1 July 1943.
