Ballymoney is a small town and civil parish in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is currently served by Ballymoney Borough Council. The civil parish of Ballymoney is situated in the historic baronies of Dunluce Upper and Kilconway in County Antrim, and the barony of North East Liberties of Coleraine in County Londonderry.
Ballymoney has expanded in recent years and a lot of new houses have been built. This is primarily as a result of high house prices in the Coleraine/Portstewart/Portrush 'Triangle' areas shifting first-time buyers to the less expensive Ballymoney area. Ballymoney is located on the main road between Coleraine and Ballymena, with good road and rail connections to the main cities in Northern Ireland, Belfast and Derry.
The Ballymoney area has the highest life expectancy of any area in Northern Ireland, with the average male life expectancy at birth being 79.9 years and 84.8 years for females in years between 2010 and 2012. Conversely, it was revealed in 2013 that Ballymoney residents are more likely to die from heart disease than anywhere else in Northern Ireland. The town hosts the Ballymoney Drama Festival, the oldest drama festival in Ireland, which was founded in 1933. The town also hosts the Ballymoney Show, which is one of the oldest agricultural shows in Northern Ireland and was founded in 1902.
Ballymoney is one of the oldest towns in Ireland with many buildings of historic note in the town centre.
An old church tower dating from 1637 is the town's oldest surviving building.
Another striking feature is the town clock and Masonic hall, built in 1775 by the 6th Earl and 2nd Marquis of Antrim. The hall was used as a market house, courthouse, town hall and school.
The town hall was erected in 1866.
Ballymoney railway station opened on 4 December 1855, and was closed to goods traffic on 4 January 1965. The refurbished railway station was opened in May 1990. It was one terminus of the Ballycastle Railway, a narrow gauge railway which ran 17 miles connecting Ballycastle to Ballymoney, on the Belfast and Northern Counties Railway (BNCR), later Northern Counties Committee (NCC), main line to Derry, and closed in July 1950.

Ballycastle County Antrim - the small town that is located in county Antrim, Northern Ireland, happens to be a touristic place for the attractions it carries and the events that might be taking place in it.
Ballycastle is a small town that is located on the north easternmost coastal tip of the island of Ireland at the northern mainland limit of the Antrim Coast and Glens Area. As much as tourists get astonished with the old historical buildings, they also get mesmerized with the nature they are faced with, and this is one of the things that Ireland in general could manage to offer.
Isn't it always interesting to stand at some point in a country and manage to point out to the borders or to islands that are related to the one next to it? That's exactly the case in Ballycastle, county Antrim, where you could point out to Rathlin Island and Mull of Kintyre which are part of Scotland.

The Fair Head which is a rocky headland found in county Antrim, only three miles away from Ballycastle, and is the point considered the closest to Rathlin Island. There is also the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge; some people might fear the idea of walking on it, but it is actually a whole different experience as well as a different view; this bridge links the gap that is found between the North Atlantic and a small island.
There is also the Bonamargy Friary which is one of the places to visit in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland, and which is an old friary that was discovered in the late Franciscan time. This Friary is one of the historical places that one could visit in Ballycastle, county Antrim that is believed to carry stories behind.
In Ballycastle, county Antrim, Northern Ireland, you will also get the chance to visit the Holy Trinity Church, you could come across the Ballycastle Museum and see what they have inside, and you could also eventually come to check the Kinbane Castle.

After enjoying those castles, bridges, and getting relaxed by the nature, we want to tell you one more thing you could do in Ballycastle, county Antrim, but only if you are visiting it in the last Monday or Tuesday from August; we want to tell you about the Auld Lammas Fair which is held yearly on the same days, specifically because the last Tuesday in August is a Bank Holiday.
Auld Lammas Fair is a traditional fair that is associated with Lammas Harvest Festival. This fair is a history because it is believed to be held now for 400 years, starting back in the 17th century. There are different things to experience in this fair - we have been there and truly enjoyed our time - you will get the chance to taste and buy different types of candies and sweets (it was finally the time to taste the famous traditional Irish yellowman), you will enjoy walking by the horses and getting into a small farm with different types of animals, buy some toys for the kids, and even see some of the products being sold there which you might be interested to buy yourself any of them. This fair is actually exciting and different - OH, we have even played there on the bull game! - but you might spend more time than you expected, so make sure that you don't have any other plans during the day and give yourself some time to go back home if you are not so close to Ballycastle (

For us, Northern Ireland was a bucket list destination and we've been really excited to visit everything! We wanted to the best Game of Thrones filming locations and that's why we wanted to rent a car and to have a road trip to the North! Also, we've been really excited to see the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin at the end of our trip - def a place that worths to be visited.
Are you looking for a quick Game Of Thrones filming locations itinerary in Northen Ireland? My husband is a big Game Of Thrones fan so we wanted to go to the Game Of Thrones filming locations in Ireland! Thankfully, Northern Ireland has made it quite easy to see the best Game Of Thrones filming locations. We've got only one day to visit but we wanna go back for more!
This is the locations we've selected to see:
1. The Rope Bridge - Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (locally pronounced carrick-a-reedy) is a famous rope bridge near Ballintoy in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The bridge links the mainland to the tiny island of Carrickarede. The Antrim coastline is one of the most striking coastal areas in Ireland. Set against this rugged ocean-front scenery, the rope bridge at Carrick-a-Rede Island is the main attraction. Most visitors come to test their bravery and walk across the swaying suspension bridge.
2. The Dark Hedges - We approached the Dark Hedges from The Giant's Causeway. The Dark Hedges is on a quiet road near the town of Ballymoney in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It's just a short road surrounded by farmer's fields. When driving up to the Dark Hedges, we weren't sure if it was even the right place? At first glance, it doesn't look like much. But once you step out of your car and take a look around, you can see why it has attracted photographers, painters, and curious tourists for decades.
3. The Castle Ward - House Stark's ancestral home, Winterfell, is seen as the capital of the North. It's located in the centre of Westeros' northernmost province, on the Kingsroad that extends from Storm's End to the Wall. Film crews used part of the medieval Doune Castle in central Scotland's Stirling district to shoot Winterfell scenes.

The main Game Of Thrones headquarters are at Paint Hall studios in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where most of the interior sets are housed; the better part of filming Game of Thrones also takes place in Northern Ireland, but many other European countries, and even African filming locations, have been used as well.

Northern Ireland Destinations - Giants Causeway - Dark Hedges
We head to Belfast to see the Titanic Museum, then we go to the Dark Hedges which is a long drive way bordered by massive beech trees creating a spooky looking hedge famous from the Game of Thrones TV show. Then we drive to the Northern Coast to visit the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Giants Causeway, and the Dunloe Castle. After we drove back down to Ireland to Carrick on Shannon to stay at a hotel, We got breakfast in the morning, before heading out onto our next adventure. When renting a car in Ireland I recommend getting the smallest car possible because most of the roads are very small with no shoulders, only one car can pass at a time so in many spots sometimes you need to pull off the road so other cars and trucks can pass. Gasoline (petrol) is also more expensive so a smaller car will also save you money as well. Driving on the left side of the road on the right side of the car wasn't that hard either although sometimes scary everything is clearly marked with arrows letting you know which direction and lane you should be in.

Spooky St Mary's, Churchyard (Walkern) ?
I received a message from one of my subscribers telling me to visit Walkern Church, It's Haunted she said and when she visited one night with friends she could hear moaning coming from the Churchyard, they were too frightened to enter,
Now as you all know, I don't visit these places at night, I take a look at them during the daylight hours and having read up on the Church and it's history discovered that Jane Wenham was driven from Walkern by an angry mob who believed her to be a witch. She was later tried as such in Hertford. It is said that after her death she returned to haunt the area around the church.
Now you have the chance to join me in a walk around the graveyard .....
