Jodhpur - Rajasthan - India - UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Jodhpur is the 2nd largest city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located 335 kilometres (208 mi) west of the state capital, Jaipur and 200 kilometres (124 mi) from the city of Ajmer. It was formerly the seat of a princely state of the same name, the capital of the kingdom known as Marwar. Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination, featuring many palaces, forts and temples, set in the stark landscape of the Thar desert.
The city is known as the Sun City for the bright, sunny weather it enjoys all year. It is also referred to as the Blue City due to the vivid blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. The old city circles the fort and is bounded by a wall with several gates. However, the city has expanded greatly outside the wall over the past several decades. Jodhpur lies near the geographic centre of Rajasthan state, which makes it a convenient base for travel in a region much frequented by tourists.

GANPATI…..Venerable god of Maharashtra. A personable god who has occupied a place in the heart of people of Maharashtra. Though Hindu's are having 33 Crore Gods , Lord Ganesha is having distinct place among all. There is a custom in hindu religion that every good work should be started only after the prayer of lord Ganesha.
In Maharashtra, the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav has been started by Lokamanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak during the pre-independence era. The main aim behind of it was to form unity among the people & create public awareness. He was of opinion that it will help the society to transform.

Ganesha Chaturthi (Vinayaka Chaturthi, Gaṇēśa Caturthī or Vināyaka Caviti) is the Hindu festival celebrated in honour of the elephant-headed god Ganesha. Celebrations are traditionally held on the 4th day of the first fortnight (Shukla Chaturthi) in the month of Bhaadrapada, according to the Hindu calendar. This usually falls between August and September months of the Gregorian Calendar. Festivities usually finish in 10 days, on the fourteen day of the same fortnight (Anant Chaturdashi).
The festival is celebrated both publicly and privately at home. The modern day version of public celebrations involves installing clay images of Ganesha in public pandals (temporary shrines) and worshipped together for ten days. The private celebration involves installing an appropriate sized clay image at home and worshipping with family and friends. In both cases, at the end of the festival the idols are immersed in a body of water such as a lake or a pond.
The festival is generally celebrated all over India. However, the celebrations are also celebrated in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Odisha and in other parts of Western India and Southern India. Outside India, it is celebrated widely in Terai region of Nepal and by the Hindu diaspora in the United States, Canada, Mauritius, and other places.
he festival starts by selecting and installing a clay murti (the idol). At home families will create a small, clean corner decorated with flowers and other colourful items for installing the idol before hand. For public celebrations, preparations will commence weeks in advance and will involve erecting temporary structures mandapas (pandals). These are funded by monetary contributions from local home and commercial establishments. Once installed both will involve decorating the idol and the place of installation in various themes, using flowers precious materials etc.
