Commençons par Pointe-à-Pitre et sa célèbre rue piétonne où siège le monument en hommage à Vélo. Il s’agit d’une artère très connue pour les tambouyés, ou joueurs de tambour, qui s’y rassemblent et pour sa multitude de magasins d’articles traditionnels, comme l’excellent Au Cœur d’Afrique.
Rendez-vous ensuite à Basse-Terre où la principale rue commerçante vous mènera à l’emblématique marché de Basse-Terre où vous pourrez faire le plein d produits locaux. Rien de tel également qu’une balade à travers les rues de la ville ou sur le littoral aménagé à cet effet.

Après avoir visité le Fort Delgrès, nous nous sommes rendus dans la ville de Basse-Terre qui se situe au pied du volcan La Soufrière.
Le centre-ville possède plusieurs petites boutiques. Cependant, lors de notre passage, la majorité d'entre elles étaient fermées.
De nombreuses maisons font partie du patrimoine architectural de la Guadeloupe. Certaines sont bien entretenues, d'autres moins.
Les rues sont parsemées de façades colorées et de jolies murales, ce qui agrémente grandement le paysage.
Nous sommes allés au marché de fruits et légumes... mais c'était l'heure de la fermeture. Alors, il ne restait que quelques marchands qui s'apprêtaient à quitter les lieux. Le marché aux poissons était également désert.
Certains bâtiments méritent le détour tels que l'église Notre-Dame du Mont-Carmel, la cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-la-Guadeloupe, le Palais de Justice, le Conseil Général et l'Hôtel de Ville.
Lors de notre promenade dans la ville, nous avons également eu l'opportunité d'observer un immense figuier maudit qui a fusionné avec la clôture avoisinante.
