Scenic Drive to PA Elk Country Visitor's Center, Benezette, and Dents Run Trip with my Mom 9/2017
My mom and I went to Elk County PA, and the Elk Country Visitor's Center in Benezette, PA on 9-24-2017. The temperature in the Pittsburgh Area was 95 degrees Farinheit ( 35 C ) for the high, so we wanted to go somewhere cooler. Unfortunately the temperature was not much cooler (closer to 91 degrees Farinheit or 33 degrees C). The drive was nice, with good Fall Foliage viewing. Unfortunately the Pennsylvania Elk don't like to come out when it is hot. For the 2nd year in a row, we did not see any Elk. It was nice to take country roads, and go back a different way. While in the Elk Area (within the Elk Range) in Elk County, PA we stopped to get ice cream, visited the Elk Country Visitor's Center and Dead Animal Room. I took a few short walks outside, most of which my mom did not join me on, and we drove back. I attempted to speed all of the conversation up to make it private, or in certain cases I sped it up less to make us sound like chipmunks.

Pennsylvania Beauty 2012 number 1. A few days in Sinnamahoning, Pennsylvania
Some views of the area in and around Sinnemahoning, Pennsylvania. This is our second trip to the area this summer to stay at a friends camp. We relaxed most of the time while the kids played in the creek. This trip we did take some short drives to the George B. Stevenson dam ( Hicks Run (Elk) viewing area ( and just the top of the mountain above camp. It only takes an hour to drive slowly down the mountain on the trail/road via a pick-up truck (if you intend to drive it home again), or 20 minutes on an ATV.
