By Air
Leaving on the airplane is the fastest way to reach Bandung. AirAsia provides thrice flights from Kuala Lumpur, also daily flights from Bali and Medan to Bandung (BDO). Malaysia Airlines also serves daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Bandung. Wings Air, subsidiary of Lion Air, operate flight routes of Bandung-Bengkulu, Bandung-Palembang (South Sumatra) and Bandung-Tanjung Karang (Bandar Lampung). Sriwijaya Air and Susi Air also provides flights to and from Bandung.
By Train
This is an ideal choice if you enjoy good views along the journey where your eyes will be spoilt by the beautiful lavish green of undulating hills, terraced paddy fields and tea plantations. From Jakarta the 180 km journey takes 3 hours.
PT KAI Persero (Kereta Api Indonesia) provides excellent train services to reach Bandung from several cities in Indonesia.
If you leave from Jakarta (Gambir Train Station), Argo Gede will lead you to Bandung. Argo Gede serves only Executive-AC class but it is comfortable and faster train.
If you come from Surabaya (Surabaya Gubeng Train Station) there are several trains that offer a scenic journey to Bandung. Turangga (Executive), Harina (Executive), Argowilis (Executive) and Mutiara Selatan (Business) ply the route daily.
By Bus and Shuttle Car
There are also convenient buses operated by Primajasa which will take you to Bandung (Bandung Supermall) direct from the Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta. However, if you’re looking for something private and elegant, shuttle cars (X-trans, Cipaganti, and Primajasa) are also available in the airport. All of them provide great, reliable, and safe services.

Sumatra: Indonesia's Best Nature and Wildlife
Sumatra is an island in western Indonesia, westernmost of the Sunda Islands. It is the sixth largest island in the world with a population of more than 50 million. Its biggest city is Medan with a population of 2 million.
Settler colonies were arriving in Sumatra in 500 BC and several significant kingdoms flourished there. Marco Polo visited the island in 1292. The powerful Aceh Sultanate ruled from this time into the 20th century. Sumatra came under the control of the Dutch East Indies and became a major producer of pepper, rubber, and oil. In the early and mid-twentieth century, Sumatran academics and leaders were important figures in Indonesia's independence movements before full independence was gained in 1945.
On 26 December 2004, the western coast and islands of Sumatra, particularly Aceh province, were struck by a tsunami following Indian Ocean earthquake. More than 170,000 Indonesians were killed, primarily in Aceh. Other recent major earthquakes struck Sumatra in 2005 and 2010.
Sumatra supports a wide range of vegetation types which are home to a rich variety of species, including 17 endemic genera of plants. The island is home to 201 mammal species and 580 bird species. The island has lost half of its natural forest cover since 1985, and many of the remaining species are endangered. The Sumatran Tiger, Sumatran Rhino, and Sumatran Orangutan are all Critically Endangered, indicating that the highest level of threat to their survival.
Sumatra is not very densely populated, about 96 people per km2—more than 45 million people in total. The people represent many different ethnic groups, speaking 52 different languages. Most of these groups, however, share many similar traditions and the different tongues are closely related.

Jambi is another province settled in Sumatra Island, which properly located on the east coast of central Sumatra. The capital of this province is Jambi city.
The people in Jambi is dominated by the ethnic of Malay with the group of Kerinci and Minangkabau. The economic site from this province is mostly come from Jambi city as the capital of this province. The busy spot from Jambi city is on Batang Hari river as an oil and rubber-producer center.
Mount and Lake Kerinci is commonly visited by the tourist while they passing by to Jambi. The existance of flora and fauna in Jambi, makes this city own their particular of national park as a reservation for those habitats, and others tourism destination are Kerinci Seblat National Park, Bukit Tiga Puluh National Park, and Barbak National Park.
How to get there
Every day, there are 6 flights departing and arriving at Jambi. Flights from Jakarta would have spent one hour, 15 minutes from Palembang and an hour from Batam, as well as from Singapore.
Travelling by ship or ferry is also easy, from Batam it only takes 5 hours and 7 hours from Malaysia. To see and feel the road trip, it takes 6 hours from Palembang, 8 hours from Padang and 10 hours from Bengkulu.
