Hard To Pronounce Michigan Places | Pure Michigan
Have you ever wondered how Michigan was named Michigan? Before colonization, the now Great Lakes State was home to at least eight Native American tribes throughout the land, one of which being the Ojibwe Indians. The Ojibwe were the first people to openly interact with the French in Michigan, trading furs and knowledge of the area for guns and goods. Through translation, the state of Michigan was named after the Ojibwe Indian word “Michigama,” which means “great lake” or “land surrounded by water.”
With this in mind, we invite you to take a watch some Michiganders stumble their way through some uniquely-named destinations found across the Great Lakes State. Test yourself and learn the correct pronunciations here:
Let's Visit Frankfort, MI
In this video, I check out Frankfort, MI located on Lake Michigan. I check out a little of the downtown area as well as the shoreline along Lake Michigan including the Frankfort North Breakwater Lighthouse. Along here is where the Betsie River empties into the lake. At the end of the video, I check out the scenic overlook along M-22 near the Benzie/Manistee county border where a very nice view of Lake Michigan can be seen.

RV Travel: The Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theatre - Honor, Michigan - Roadside America
While traveling in our RV in Michigan, we came across this neat roadside attraction.
Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theatre & Diner is a historic drive-in theater and diner in Honor, Michigan on US Highway 31. It opened on July 4, 1953 and was one of seven remaining drive-in theaters in Michigan in 2003. It has a snack bar, children's play areas, putt-putt golf, beach volleyball, home-run derby and an area for dogs. Entertainment events include Hula-Hoop contests and Elvis impersonators. The Cherry Bowl is the only remaining drive-in theater in Northern Michigan. The Cherry Bowl's sound system uses the original vacuum tube motiograph amplifiers powering speakers at speaker posts. An FM Radio option is also offered. The drive-in theatre is open in the summertime. The Cherry Bowl has converted to digital HD projection. [Wikipedia]

Let's Visit the Platte River (Near Beulah, MI)
In this video, I quickly check out the Platte River near Beulah, MI. I show off a couple areas of the river including where it empties into Lake Michigan. As the area is a part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, you can even see some of the dunes from afar.
The main purpose of this video is to show parts of the river where my family and I used to go tubing when I was a lot younger. Although there wasn't much to cover, I wanted to talk about some memories I had of the river.
