Ella is a small town in the Badulla District of Uva Province, Sri Lanka governed by an Urban Council. It is approximately 200 kilometres east of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 1,041 metres above sea level. The area has a rich bio-diversity, dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Ella is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations. The town has a cooler climate than surrounding lowlands, due to its elevation. The Ella Gap allows views across the southern plains of Sri Lanka.

Horton Plains National Park is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by montane grassland and cloud forest. Diyaluma Falls is 220 m high and the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 361st highest waterfall in the world. It is situated 6 km away from Koslanda in Badulla District on Colombo-Badulla highway. The Falls are formed by Punagala Oya, a tributary of Kuda Oya which in turn, is a tributary of Kirindi Oya.

Lipton’s seat is one of the best tourist attractions in Sri LankaThe place gets this name because the Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to survey his burgeoning empire from here.
Located on the top of the Poonagala hill near the Haputale, it is a beautiful travel to the hill country from Colombo
From Haputale town, you have to climb about 7 km through rich tea plantations to reach the location.
From the Lipton’s view you can have a conspicuous view of the Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Eastern provinces including 7 districts.

Haputale is a scenic hill town belongs to Badulla district, the center part of Sri Lanka. This small hill station is 1431 meters above the sea level. The climate is cooler throughout the year. I made a solo trip and traveled by Expo Rail from Nanu Oya Railway Station to Haputale Railway Station. I stayed one night at Olympus Plaza Hotel.The main tourist attraction of Haputale is the Lipton’s Seat. I enjoyed a romantic drive from Dambatenne to Lipton’s Seat. It was such a scenic road trip. Haputale is one of my top favorite travel destinations in Sri Lanka. The scenic beauty of Haputale in Sri Lanka was too cool to explore from Lipton's Seat.

Mr. Chandrasiri Amarasinghe, former owner of Samagi Guest Inn, has started this new guesthouse with best views over the lowlands of Sri Lanka. Yala and Udawalawe National-park can be seen from here. Forest, wilderness and vegetable gardens are down under, high mountains above. Monkeys, deers, pigs and peacocks come close to the house. Just 5 km from Haputale and 2 km to Beragala it has a very good location for all travellers between east (Arugam Bay, Wellawaya, Yala) and west (Balangoda, Ratnapura, Colombo). An advantage is the warmer climate cause of the lower altitude than Haputale. A view point with parking lot (10 cars), sun umbrellas and benches are infront of the building. The restaurant is on top of the building, the seperated guest rooms are down under. All the building and walls are made by natural stones. Lot of beautifull flowers are all around. All guests will get a welcome drink.
Nature Horizon has 6 double rooms with attached bathroom. Each room has two big beds, nice wooden racks, chairs and tables. The bathrooms are comfortable, have hot water and fresh towels. Extra towels soap and toilet paper are free of charge. All rooms have a solid balcony and a floor with a main hall. This big hall has two sitting areas with sofa, arm chairs, tables and chairs. Enough place for 12 or more guests as well as children who like to play inside. Games: Cards, carom board and chess. Free newspapers by order. A common fridge can be used by guests.
Laundry service washing only (2-3 hours). Free iron box. International calls can be done by price list. Local calls 20 Rs./min. Doctor call and Also free pickup service can arrange from from Haputale and Beragala. Please make advance call to pick you up in time. Tours can be arrange on request .
