Breskens is a harbour town on the Westerschelde in the municipality of Sluis in the province of Zeeland, in the south-western Netherlands. Its population is 4,787 . The town is noted for the Visserijfeesten , the largest festival in Zeeland. A ferry connection exists between Breskens and Vlissingen. After the opening of the Western Scheldt Tunnel near Terneuzen in 2003, the ferry now only carries pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

    The Western Scheldt in the province of Zeeland in the southwestern Netherlands, is the estuary of the Scheldt river. This river once had several estuaries, but the others are now disconnected from the Scheldt, leaving the Westerschelde as its only direct route to the sea. The Western Scheldt is an important shipping route to the Port of Antwerp, Belgium and unlike the Eastern Scheldt estuary, it could not be closed off from the sea by a dam as part of the Delta Works. Instead, the dykes around it have been heightened and reinforced.Over the years, many ships have sunk in the Western Scheldt. Following an agreement between the Dutch and Belgian governments in 1995, many of the wrecks have been removed to improve shipping access to Antwerp.     The Watersnoodmuseum or Flood Museum in Ouwerkerk, Netherlands is the National Knowledge and Remembrance Centre for the Floods of 1953 and offers an in-depth picture of the events during and after the flood of 1 February 1953. The museum was officially opened on 2 April 2001. The museum also educates visitors about water safety, and the museum collects global knowledge about flooding. The museum is located on the dike south of the village of Ouwerkerk; it is housed in the four caissons used to close the last gap in the dike following the flood.

    Vrouwenpolder is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Veere, and lies about 9 km north of Middelburg. The name is derived from the polder of Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. Vrouwenpolder was a separate municipality until 1966, when it was merged with Veere. Its formal long name was 'Onze-Lieve-Vrouwenpolder, Schellach en Zanddijk-Buiten'. The former municipality of Gapinge was added to O.L.Vrouwenpolder in 1857.In 2001, the village of Vrouwenpolder had 795 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.21 km², and contained 351 residences. The statistical area Vrouwenpolder, which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1320.There is a nudist beach at Vrouwenpolder.
