Caerwys is a town in Flintshire, Wales. It is just under two miles from the A55 North Wales Expressway and one mile from the A541 Mold-Denbigh road. At the 2001 Census, the population of Caerwys community was 1,315, with a total ward population of 2,496. Following reorganisation the community population fell at the 2011 Census to 1,283 with the ward raising to 2,569.Caerwys is mentioned in the Domesday Book as a small market town. The well-maintained church is dedicated to St. Michael. It has two parallel naves. The oldest part of the building is a stone tower whose base is said to have been part of a Roman observation tower. The village is located in the community of Penrhyndeudraeth, on the estuary of the River Dwyryd, 2 miles south east of Porthmadog, and 1 mile from Minffordd railway station. River Alyn, Mold, Flintshire, North Wales.

The River Alyn is a tributary of the River Dee. The river Alyn rises at the southern end of the Clwydian hills in the Llandegla Moors and the Alyn Valley forms part of the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The main town on the river Alyn is Mold, the county town of Flintshire.

Heart of Wales Scenic Rambler - Holyhead to Carmarthen.

This Heart of Wales Scenic Rambler Holyhead - Carmarthen came by our home near Carmarthen. Luckily we at home! Headed by 66056 at the country end, and by 66090 at the London end it made a nice change from units. Stopping at the junction where the line for Carmarthen diverges and is single (why?) we see the 175 unit which was holding it up (though to be fair, it was early) and then off to Carmarthen. Back, two hours later, we use a different location to view, which looks right down the Towy Valley. you get an HST and a 175 as well!
