Pedraplen Causeway, Cayo Santa Maria - Cuba
Pedraplén is considered the largest causeway in the world (48km) and provides direct access to kilometers of amazing, untouched beaches of golden sand and crystalline waters. In the vicinity of El Pedraplén you’ll find lush vegetation and amazing landscapes.To protect the area’s flora and fauna 45 pre assembled concrete bridges were set up. El Pedraplén of Caibarién to Cayo Santa María was awarded the 7th “Premio Internacional Puente de Alcántara” (International Puente de Alcántara Award). This award recognizes the public building with greatest cultural, technological, aesthetic, functional and social relevance in Latin America, also taking into account the technical and esthetic quality.

Cuba vlog day 5 - Drinking on the Malecon
A huge part of coming to Cuba for us was to sit on the Malecon on Sunday afternoon, drink rum, drink some beers and smoke cigars - the huge long road linking all the districts together. The long stretch has very few restaurants or bars, just broken down houses and a few Casas, it is very beautiful and the perfect backdrop for all those 1950's car zooming past!
Firstly, we forgot the rum and cigars - lucky for us within a 5 minute walk we had a Romeo & Juliet cigar for $4 CUC, and a 375ml Havana rum for $2.50 CUC to go with our beers.
The sunset was stunning, there were people everywhere - dancing on the streets, groups of teens laughing, older couples walking hand in hand - it was literally the picture we had envisioned.
Yes, we probably drank too much rum, yes we do suck at smoking cigars but we, just the two of us sitting up on the Malecon in awe of the city had an amazing afternoon talking shit and thinking of where too next - Havana and Cuba I think you are growing on us!

How Americans Sneak & Travel into Cuba!
Contrary to popular myth, Americans are allowed (by the Cuban government) to visit the Republic of Cuba. It is only the AMERICAN government which prohibits its own people from traveling to Cuba. due to various laws associated with the embargo.
Cuba, (to thumb its nose at this law) NEVER stamps ANY passports upon entry. They only stamp their own entry/exit visa stamp, which is taken by Cuban officials when you fly home. This visa is provided by your airline that flies you to Cuba. Always ensure you keep safe the Exit side of your visa, as you need it to leave the country.
Also contrary to popular belief is that American products are not available in Cuba. They are, they merely come there via intermediary countries such as Canada, Mexico, etc.
Additionally, Cuba does business with dozens of countries in the world (except USA). In these times of bad economies, doesn't it now just make sense to end the embargo. The revolution started in 1959. Castro outlived so many world rulers. Let's just move on and be adults and let politics take a back seat to reality and the economy.
