Cameroon has an extremely diverse range of religions amongst its population. Two-thirds of its people are Christian, with one-fifth Muslim and many other religions represented. The West of the country is largely Protestant; the east and south are predominantly Catholic; but there remain southern groups who follow African animist practices, believing in witchcraft, which is outlawed by the government.

Cameroon gained its independence from France on 1st January 1960, 2:30am. After 1919, the country had been split into French Cameroun and British Cameroons. This governance was highly controversial, with political resistance put down by French forces. Following independence, on 1st October 1961 British Cameroons was reunited with French Cameroun to create the Federal Republic of Cameroon. Today, the country is governed by a President, who has very wide-ranging powers to form policy, govern agences, issue orders to the army, and arrange treaties. He is elected every seven years by popular vote.

Cameroon is home to the world's most endangered language. It became the object of considerable international attention through the efforts of language preservation websites. Busuu, a Southern Bantoid language, has just eight speakers left in the world, and efforts are now being taken to preserve the language for future speakers in the region, as linguists study its structure and grammar. Many more languages in the region are also in danger of disappearing, as the population becomes increasingly colonised by more widely-spoken languages.

I signed up to go on a tour with Azizi Life, and I did the home food tour. It turned out to be even better than I was expecting, and truly a glimpse into rural life and a community in Rwanda. The food, the culture, and the dancing after lunch was one of the highlights of the day!
Muhanga Town - In the morning we first drove from Kigali to Muhanga Town, about an hour outside of Kigali. The green mountain roads were spectacular. Rwanda is known as the land of 1000 hills, and I think that might be an underestimation as there are never ending hills in this part of Central Africa.
After being warmly greeted and welcomed by the community of ladies, we first went to go fetch water. This is something many of us, myself for sure, take for granted. But in the rural countryside of Africa, even in cities, there are many people who have no running water, and when they need water for anything, they must walk to the well or source of freshwater, and carry all the water they need. It’s something to always remember.
Next we got started cooking all the food. Most of the ingredients for the Rwandan feast they cooked were from right there, on the hillside, from the small family farms. We had dozens of different vegetables, and of course - beans which were one of the most important foods of this regions of Africa. It wouldn’t be Rwandan food without beans as I’ve heard! Final dish was akabenz, a famous Rwandan pork dish.
You could taste the freshness of all the ingredients. The food was honestly a little plain for my usual taste buds, but I fully appreciated the natural ingredients, the simplicity of the dishes, and the love poured into each dish.
After eating a giant Rwandan feast, all of a sudden they started breaking out into dance. It was one of the highlights of this entire experience.

The Cameron Highlands are located in the far north west of the state of Pahang, just over 200 kilometers - or 3 hours drive - north from Kuala Lumpur. This cool mountainous region -- the highest on the Malaysian mainland - rises to 1500 metres above sea level, making it a popular escape for international travelers and locals alike.
Named after William Cameron, a Scottish surveyor who came across the plateau in the late 1800's, by the 1930's the areas rolling mountains and lush valleys had become a haven for colonial-era Brits seeking respite from the lowland heat.

Chaque région de ce pays a ses insectes comestibles locaux ; dans la région centre, parmi les plus populaires, on peut citer les termites, certaines chenilles, et la fameuse larve du charançon du raphia, sobrement appelée foss. Bangui
Bagui is the capital & largest city of the Central African Republic . It is situated on the northern bank of the Ubangi River. It is a very important trade centre. The nightlife & markets here are worth visiting. The presidential palace is a very attractive here. A so called big mosque is a popular place to visit & also a number of museums that document both the colonization of the country as well as the culture of its indigenous people.
Boali waterfalls
It is situated in the town of Boali , a little upstream the main town.It is 164 ft tall & best experienced during the wetter conditions of the weather. Its best to visit this place during the rainy season. The lake is abundant in crocodiles.
Dzanga-sangha National Park
This park is situated in southwest region of the country near the borders with Cameroon & the Republic of Congo. It is one of the most important parks in the country also known as the second largest rainforest in the world. It is distinctive for its thick lowland rainforest & strategic location near the Sangha River. The reserve is home to large species of mammals such as forest elephants, the bongo, chimpanzee, western lowland gorillas, sitatungas, water buffaloes etc.
Manovo-gounda st Floris National Park
This park is located in the northeastern region near the border with Chad. The park is divided into three types of landscape, the flood plain around the Bahr Aouk & Bahr Kameur rivers, the mountainous south & the lowland plains in between. Visitors can see there black rhinoceros, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, lions, giraffes, hippos& buffaloes as well as 320 different bird species.
Zinga
Zinga is a small town lying on the banks of the Oubangui river, which flows through the southern part of the country. It is around 100 km south of Bangui city. Though it is a small town but it is valuable place to visit for tourist. The wooden houses here are great examples of traditional Congo houses. The people of the town are friendly & welcoming to tourists.

Créée en 1977, elle couvre une superficie de 1378 Km².et se situe entre 9°35 à 9°40 et 10°5 de longitude Est et 3°15 à 3°45 de latitude Nord.
Elle est limitée au Nord par l’arrondissement de Dizangue, au Nord-Ouest par l’arrondissement de Douala 6éme (Manoka), au Nord-est, à L’Est et au Sud-est par celui d’Edéa, à l’Ouest et au Sud par le département du Wouri, au Sud-ouest par l’Océan atlantique.
La première potentialité est la réserve de faune.
Bien que protégée, elle peut être source de revenus pour la commune si cette dernière pouvait aménager des sites et organiser des excursions à travers son office de tourisme.

Are you intending to move to West Africa? To help you with your packing, this programme takes a look at the western part of the African continent, which extends from the Gulf of Guinea in the East to the Senegal River in the North-West. We’ve met some French people and experts who live there, in the Ivory Coast, Senegal or Cameroon, and they answer your questions about daily life. Let’s begin with the visa issue, which is still a thorny problem:
Visas are a problem for us, because they’re always very difficult and time-consuming to obtain. Some countries use biometric visas, which is fine in itself, but it means we have to look after our visas ourselves. It’s quite time-consuming and very difficult. For example, when you’re doing an African tour, you go to the Ivory Coast, Ghana and Cameroon: and you have to have the visas every time. There have been some improvements in some cases. Gabon, for example, now allows visas to be issued at the airport, but you still have to have carried out the formalities beforehand. So, it’s still a problem. The only African country that doesn’t bother with visas – because of its tourism – is Madagascar. Nowadays you can go to Madagascar for six months on a business trip and no one will ask you whether you’re a tourist or whatever.
Every country is free to set its own rules. However, some of the West African countries are more flexible, today, such as Senegal. You need to find out exactly what’s needed before you set off. While security is still a key factor in the decision as to where you set up business, listen to these on-the-spot testimonies, which show what’s true and what’s false.
Senegal has enjoyed political, social and economic stability for a very long time. We’ve never had that sort of problem. Security has never been a problem. We’ve had things happening in the southern part of the country, in Casamance, but that’s tended to die out in the last few years. Even Dakar is very secure. In Dakar, there are police officers and gendarmes securing all the exits. Security is there for the population.
On the website diplomatie.gouv.fr, you’ll be advised to stay on your guard as there’s still a terrorist threat in the West Africa region. However, crime in Senegal is still at a relatively low level. But what are things like in Cameroon?
There’s a security crisis in the north of the country linked to incursions by Boko Haram and proximity to Nigeria and, there, you need to take a lot of precautions. But security in Douala and Yaoundé is the same as in the big cities. However, one area in which you need to take great care is road safety. The Douala-Yaoundé road, which is undergoing repairs, is extremely dangerous. Some people used to call it the Road of Death. So, you need to take great care, but I’d say that the same applies everywhere. There are no other precautions to take when you arrive in a large city apart from that. Douala is a large port, and ports have always had security problems, places where you shouldn’t go, places where you can go as long as you take care, places where you shouldn’t go alone. But the people who live there know all that by heart.
In the Ivory Coast, crime and offences are still at a reasonable level compared to other major capitals. However, you should still be careful about using credit cards as networks have sprung up in the Ivory Coast that specialise in bank card fraud. If you take these few precautions, you can relax and enjoy West Africa’s many attractions:
In terms of quality of life and although I haven’t lived in Africa myself, the feedback that we’ve had from our customers suggests that it’s difficult to come back to France as expatriate life is often considered to be very pleasant in the African countries in terms of living area, domestic staff and, often, climate. The experience is also very different depending on whether you’re in a large city, where’s there are more people and perhaps cultural activity that some people may miss, or whether you’re away from the cities, in which case you’re more into exploring local life and provincial or village life, which is very different.
Each capital has its attractions. This is what Thomas Chalumeau thinks of Abidjan, the Ivory Coast’s economic capital:
If I had to summarise the attractions of Abidjan, I’d say first of all its population, which is extremely friendly, young and dynamic. Then there’s the density of its economic fabric, as it’s a very busy port. The city also has a lot of new projects going on – road and hospital infrastructures – and is full of ideas for the future in every sector of the economy: building, new services, digital activities and so on.
