Karon is a resort town on the west coast of Thailand’s Phuket Island. It’s known for Karon Beach, a long stretch of white sand. Wat Suwan Khirikhet is a Buddhist temple guarded by 2 large snake statues.
The temple complex hosts the twice-weekly Karon Temple Market, which sells sarongs, jewelry, and street food. To the southeast, the towering white marble Big Buddha statue has panoramic views over the island.

4. Monkey Islands - Spectacular Island entirely occupied by Monkeys

Trang Thailand is a great place for holidaying and touring. It’s largely unknown and is not at all touristy, but it has all things tourists love to see: beautiful beaches, unspoiled tropical islands, stunning waterfalls and amazing national parks. There’s also great food available there and it is inhabited by very friendly people. It’s definitely worth a visit to Trang! This video is a vlog I made while on a short family holiday at Christmas time.
The video features the activities we did in Trang: visiting night markets and food markets, sightseeing at the beaches and touring the islands of Trang. We had a great time there.

You’ll find street food on many street corners in Thailand, be it in Trang, Krabi or Phuket and at all of the markets. Thai food markets are one of the best places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food while you travel in Thailand. There are loads of Thai food markets and night market all over Thailand, and heaps around Phuket. At the markets you'll find so many Thai dishes on offer and the foods here are cheap, and so tasty! And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is perfectly safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it nearly daily for 4 years in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!

The markets in Thailand are also a great place to get an insight into Thai culture while you travel in Thailand. You can shop alongside the locals and learn what they buy and eat. And the markets are a great place to try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand. You'll see the people cooking the food right in front of you. And best of all, the food is cheap, often much cheaper than eating in a Thai restaurant. Eating at markets is a good way to eat cheap on your Thailand holidays.
Make sure you check out some Thai Food Markets on your trip to Thailand, and be sure to sample some of the amazing Thai street food that's available in Thailand! If you want to try some of the most delicious food in the world be sure to visit Thailand!

The Amazing Big Buddha Phuket Thailand - Thailand Vacation Days
Phuket Big Buddha, or The Great Buddha of Phuket, is a seated Maravija Buddha statue in Phuket, Thailand. The official name is Phra Phutta Ming Mongkol Akenakiri (Thai: พระพุทธมิ่งมงคลเอกนาคคีรี), shortened to Ming Mongkol Buddha. Sitting atop Nakkerd Hill (sometimes Nagakerd) near Chalong, construction began in 2004. Expansion of the base was ongoing as of 2015. By 2017, 80 percent of the project had been completed. It is the third-tallest statue in Thailand behind only the Great Buddha of Thailand and Luangpho Yai.
The Buddha statue depicts Gautama in a sitting position (Maravichai: มารวิชัย) and is 45 metres (148 feet) tall and 25.45 metres (83.5 feet) wide. It is made of concrete and covered with Burmese white marble. Facing towards Ao Chalong Bay the statue is the main Buddha of the Wat Kitthi Sankaram temple (Wat Kata). The statue was declared the Buddhist Treasure of Phuket by Somdet Phra Yanasangwon, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, in 2008. The statue cost 30 million Baht (approx. $950,000 US in February 2019), sourced primarily from donations. It was built legally in a national conserved forest with the approval of Thai Royal Forest Department.
The statue's official name is Phra Phutta Ming Mongkol Akenakakiri (Thai: พระพุทธมิ่งมงคลเอกนาคคีรี) meaning:
- Phra Phutta (พระพุทธ-) = the Buddha
- Ming Mongkol (มิ่งมงคล) = gloriously honourable
- Ake (เอก) = top of
- Nakakiri (นาคคีรี) = the hill of naka (which refers to Nakkerd Hill, the place where the statue is located).
Together, it means the gloriously honourable Buddha on the top of the hill of Naga (Nakkerd Hill).
