Oakhurst House and Wireworks. Ambergate, Derbyshire. Jan 2018
Finally got to discover these abandoned ruins in the depths of Derbyshire. Along the path from Holly Lane, Ambergate, is a little derelict cottage (not filmed), then onto the Ambergate Bridon Wireworks where this video begins. Amongst the dereliction is plenty of graffiti, look out for the hidden door and the Magic Chicken!
5:48 Just beyond the Wireworks is the notorious ruins of Oakhurst House, which is full of history, mystery and intrigue!
About....
Oakhurst House (Ruins) is a building encased by Shining Cliff Woods in the grounds of Ambergate Wireworks (Bridon's) above the village of Ambergate in Derbyshire. The house was built in 1848 by local landowner Francis Hurt (1801–1854) behind his iron forge in Ambergate. It was owned by the Johnson family of industrialists for many years who were benefactors in the local area.
Francis Hurt, knew that his unmarried daughters, Emma, Elizabeth, Selina and Frances Fanny would have to leave Alderwasley Hall after his death because it would needed by his heir, and next Lord of the Manor. He thought he would provide for them when this happened. In 1848 he had built for them a rather grand house called “Oakhurst”. However, the four ungrateful daughters were having none of it and refused to move there and so a much grander house called Chase Cliffe was constructed near Crich, Derbyshire. It was then decided to lease the forge with the house used as accommodation.
When the Johnson family took over Oakhurst they had alterations made. There is a date stone showing the Johnson logo with a date of 1894. For many years Oakhurst was the home of Thewlis Johnson, the nephew of Johnson & Nephew.
In the 1920s it served as a religious retreat for the local diocese for a brief period.
During 1945, soon after WW2 ended, the house was divided into nine flats and three apartments for managerial staff.
Since the 1970s the house has been left abandoned and has been decaying ever since.
It's claimed that the house haunted, but there is no actual proof of this. Although it makes part of a good a good story to run alongside a house in this derelict state. A nearby pub runs organised ghost walks; you will be told all kinds of nonsense if you're gullible enough to believe it all.
The house is for sale at a mere £850,000 in its current state (Ghosts n Ghouls included!).
The Ambergate Wireworks and Mills were owned and run by Johnson Shorthorn, manufactures of Highly Tempered Steel wires of all kinds. They were taken over by Bridon in 1990 and closed in 1996. Been in a state of abandonment ever since.

The Saxon Shore Way: Gravesend To Cliffe 14 March 2016
The Saxon Shore Way is a 163 mile long distance footpath between Gravesend in Kent and Hastings in East Sussex. This is the first 8 miles of the path between Gravesend and the village of Cliffe. As you will see in the video, there is currently severe path erosion at Cliffe Fort- this could be dangerous for the less mobile. Hopefully, it will be rectified at some point. THe walk took place in sunny, but very blustery, weather on Monday 14 March 2016. I apologise for the unavoidable, but annoying, wind noise in the video.
Exploring The Abandoned Train Graveyard - (Found Historic Remains)
So guys as I said in the video, this was a place that I’ve been meaning to go to for about a year and 3 quarters. And it was then that I finally decided to go there, I have to say that this place was an amazing one. Very unique in its way and I’ve never seen a place like this ever before, I’ve also never featured a place like this on my channel ever before. This has been referred to as “Tenterden train graveyard” by many other urban explorers, this was also how it’s been referred to officially on the 28DL website. Also guys, as I mentioned I will be off from school for about 10 days from tomorrow, and in that time I will be traveling down to Dover again to see some truly amazing places. But unfortunately I have a lot of work to be doing, which is limiting unfortunately. But getting things done in certain amounts of time is becoming a lot more regular and I need to do a lot of work for a while, but uploads will continue nevertheless. Anyways guys I hope you enjoyed the video and I will see you next week, so yeah guys, bye.

WW2 TOP SECRET AUXILIARY UNIT OPERATIONAL BUNKER Nr DOVER
Deep in a woodland in Kent lays a forgotten relic of the past.
A Dover Auxiliary Unit Operational bunker was used during the Second World War as part of Britain’s secret resistance and underground fighting force.
These units were designed to spring into action should Hitler’s forces make it to the UK. Secret bunkers, observation posts and wireless stations were built inland from the coast.
The idea was that after an invasion the unit's members would lie hidden for 5 days and then appear and bring havoc to the invading army by sabotaging transport links and setting booby traps etc. In reality, it was thought that such units would only have a 10-day life expectancy.
The Patrol consisted of 8 known members:
Sergeant George Marsh.
Samuel Osborne.
Thomas Holmans.
Charles Fayer.
Dennis Dewar.
All of the men where from the local area.
Training took place every Sunday at Tappington Hall near Denton, and personal equipment included a .38 revolver, rubber truncheon, knuckledusters and a fighting knife where used.
The patrol had no particular targets should an attack occur, but it was thought that Hockley Sole, a large house at Standen in the Alkham Valley would have been favoured as a base by the German army and should, therefore, be destroyed.
The Bunker was built by Canadian engineers and had a corrugated iron roofed chamber. A tree stump was bolted onto a manhole cover which was hinged to allow access down an 8ft deep concrete shaft which then led to a chamber built into the hillside. An escape tunnel led to a Nissan hut 3ft off the ground.
The bunker had to remain an absolute secret which wasn’t easy even in the middle of the countryside as poachers frequented the woods and would spot regularly used paths or disturbance in the undergrowth.
Unfortunately, a local lady who lived at the bottom of the track very nearly happened upon the base one day while walking her dog. A Patrol member managed to divert her away, but it was suggested that if Hitler’s army did invade, then she would have to be done away with.
