10 of the Most Affordable Places to Live in the US.
You’re ready to move to a new city. But, before you pack up and select a new place to live, make sure you do your research. While it’s great to have an idea of some of the different entertainment options and attractions that an area offers, you also want it to be somewhere that fits into your budget. Living expenses vary wildly from city to city, and finding an affordable city to live in isn’t as easy as it used to be.
Let’s say you’re looking for a city to move to and are hoping to spend about $140,000 on your new dream home. You’re not going to have much luck in cities like New York City or San Francisco. However, that $140,000 could get you a lot of house if you’re looking at one of the more affordable cities in America.
Luckily, Forbes compiles a good amount of data every year to help us figure out which cities those are. The full list of America’s most affordable cities tops 100 metropolitan areas, but we’re going to stick to the upper slice.
Here are the cheapest cities in the U.S., so you can see where you can get the most bang for your buck.

The cities of New York and San Francisco are famous for their costly rental prices and high cost of living. This raises the question of where the most affordable places to rent a home are located. The website GOBankingRates.com compiled data from 2017. Using rental prices on Zillow, the site ranked the 150 most populated cities to find the least expensive ones for renters. Ranking is based on the median prices of one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as single-family residences. These 10 cities are worth checking out if you are a senior living on a fixed income, a fresh graduate, or someone who just wants find a cheaper place to rent or retire early.

America's Five New National Monument Sites
Obama declares 5 new national monuments.
President Obama has signed proclamations deeming 5 sites across the country official national monuments. The newly declared sites could result in economic growth through recreation and tourism.
Obama states These sites honor the pioneering heroes, spectacular landscapes and rich history that have shaped our extraordinary country. By designating these national monuments today, we will ensure they will continue to inspire and be enjoyed by generations of Americans to come.
The first structure is the Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument in Ohio. Preserving the home of Colonel Charles Young, it serves as a tribute to the former Army officer who became the first African American to achieve the rank of Colonel.
Next up is the Río Grande del Norte National Monument in New Mexico. Extinct volcanoes and 500-year-old trees reside on the over 242,000 acre property.
The San Juan Islands in Washington also made the list, comprised of 450 beautiful islands, pinnacles and rocks in an undeveloped landscape. The First State National Monument in Delaware is a tribute to the state's settlement history and Delaware's role in ratifying the Constitution.
The Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Monument in Maryland is dedicated to the life of the famous conductor, responsible for assisting enslaved people escape from bondage.
