En esta ruta podrá percibir la serenidad y la quietud de una zona montañosa muy bella, con muchos recursos turísticos naturales como ríos, cerros, cuevas, puntos escénicos, conozca la historia de la guerra civil de los años 80 relatada por los protagonistas y plasmada en su museo, visite importantes sitios memoriales, participe en sus eventos artísticos como el festival de invierno, acampe en sus apacibles llanos, realice recorridos en caballo ó bicicleta de montaña por sus bellos parajes.
Perquín: Escenario del conflicto civil de El Salvador y considerada la capital del movimiento Revolucionario, es ahora un remanso de Paz y armonía, ubicada a una altura de 1230 msnm que le brinda un clima fresco, Sereno pueblo con encantadores hostales de montaña, Dentro de sus ineludibles atractivos encontramos: El Museo de la Revolución, Cerro Perquín, y su Tour Cultural Histórico al campamento guerrillero.
San Fernando: Pueblo Fronterizo con muchas montañas y pinares, caracterizado por su aire puro, podrá encontrar el Área de Camping El Pinar que es un sitio seguro y tranquilo desde donde podrá partir para visitar exóticos lugares naturales como: El Chorreron, una cascada de 39 mts con muchos pozos de agua fresca y pura, Los Manantiales, remansos de agua clara con un nacimiento de agua tibia y rodeadas de mucha naturaleza, los medios de transporte utilizados en la zona no riñen con el medio ambiente siendo estos Caballos y Carretas tiradas por bueyes.
Arambala: Villa que cuenta con una bella iglesia, gente trabajadora y amable, en esta región encontramos El Rio Sapo, cuyas aguas de color turquesa propician un escenario impresionante en contacto con la naturaleza propia de la zona, El sitio memorial El Mozote que es un importante lugar de peregrinación en honor a mártires del conflicto armado, La Cascada El perol cuenta con caídas de agua con profundidades para todas las edades, el Llano El Muerto un impresionante paraje natural lugar ideal para camping y actividades al aire libre.
Visite también encantadores pueblos y villas de la zona como Torola, Meanguera, Jocoaitique , El Rosario, en donde podrá apreciar la ruralidad y herencia ancestral de origen Lenca, que hacen de este lugar una codiciable estadía para visitantes extranjeros y nacionales, con una gastronomía muy propia de la zona, servido por manos laboriosas, y rostros humildes sinceros llenos de amabilidad, esta ruta es conformada por unos 8 pueblos, que celosamente guardan sus tradiciones y raíces Lencas con orgullo, ofrecen atractivos eventos y bailes culturales sin comparación, senderos debidamente señalizados con infraestructuras interpretativas de apoyo cultural para los visitantes.

Cacaopera: Importante Ciudad pre-hispánica, con una antigua iglesia, lugar donde se celebra en el mes de Enero entre los días 13 al 17 la antigua Danza de los Emplumados en honor a la madre Tierra y se le expresa alegria por el año nuevo, Visite también El Museo Winakirika cuyo nombre significa lo de nuestro Pueblo en lengua Kakawira, El Río Torola baña su territorio y ofrece muchos lugares como pozas y caídas de agua para disfrutar en armonía con la naturaleza.
Corinto: Sitio arqueológico que consiste en un abrigo rocoso de 39 mts de largo y 15 17 mts de alto con pinturas rupestres de 7,000 años de antigüedad aproximadamente Llamada la capilla de los Cacaoperas la formación geológica es de ignimbrita y ceniza volcánica solidificada, cuenta con extensos llanos para descansar en contacto directo con la naturaleza.

The only country I had not visited in Central America. Nicaragua, was on my doorstep and I was so eager to visit as I had heard nothing but great things.
The trip getting to Leon Nicarauga however, was less than exciting. Leaving El Tunco, the only real way to Leon, Nicaragua was with Gekko Tours. A shuttle bus fitting about 10 people should only take 8 or so hours to exit El Salvador, cross the little strip of Honduras, and leave us, in the night, in Leon, Nicarauga. When the bus arrived late, and the driver went to have a nap first, I knew it was going to be a long day.
Finally, in the wee hours of the morning, we arrived at the Nicaraguan border with still a couple hours until we reached Leon. Nicaragua tourism is growing, and the real main reason I wanted to get to Leon NIcaragua was to do the Volcano boarding trip just outside of Leon.
Arriving in Leon, it was like a ghost down. All the stores and shops were closed and the big sheet metal had been pulled down in front of all of them showing the graffiti. At this time of night, it was not the most hospitable looking places but most places aren't at 2 in the morning when we finally arrived in Leon.
Woke up in the morning, and was pleasantly surprised with the beauty of Leon. A real, authentic, colonial Nicaraguan town, and I decided, hey, I might spend a few days here!

Monkey in the boat - Las Isletas of Granada, Nicaragua

EN Adventure with a monkey in a cruise boat at Las Isletas of Granada, Nicaragua. This archipelago consist of 365 small islands and is located in Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America. Many of them are occupied, some are privately owned and hold homes or vacation houses, some of them have restaurants and hostels. There's one island with an old fort and two islands with... monkeys : ) These have obviously become tourist attraction. As those monkeys cannot swim, they may see a coming boat as a opportunity to escape the island and try to get in ; )
PL Przygoda z małpą w łodce podczas rejsu po wysepkach Las Isletas koło Granady w Nikaragui : ) Archipelag składa się z 365 wysepek i znajduje się na jeziorze Nikaragua, największym w Ameryce Środkowej. Duża część wysepek jest zamieszkana, niektóre są własnością prywatną, na innych znajdują się hotele i restauracje, na jednej z nich fort, a na dwóch... małpy : ) W oczywisty sposób stały się one atrakcją turystyczną. Ponieważ te małpy nie potrafią pływać, łódkę z turystami mogą traktować jako okazję do ucieczki z wyspy ; )
Rural school band - El Salvador 2007
July 2007 - A rural school's band and drill team practice for the September 15 Independence Day celebration. Morazán department, El Salvador. Interestingly, there are academic classes going on right next to the practice area; the teachers insisted the kids learn to block it out, but as a teacher myself, I have my doubts.
This is one of my favorite videos from that trip -- would that it were longer! No comments on the quality, though; taken with a very basic still camera and no knowledge of video.
Quick Stop In Managua | Nicaragua
This video is showing you what its like in the very touristy area of Managua, this awesome little area is called puerto salvador allende and is a place for people to chill have food, drinks and fun in Managua. There is a little charge of 5 cordobas (17 cent american) to enter. If you have a quick stop in Managua this is a safe relaxing place to explore.
