Cranbrook is a small town in the Great Southern region of Western Australia between Katanning, Kojonup and Mount Barker, situated 320 km south of Perth. It is billed as The Gateway to the Stirlings, referring to the nearby Stirling Range National Park. At the 2006 census, Cranbrook had a population of 280.The settlement grew after it was one of the original railway stations on the Great Southern Railway when the railway opened in 1889, and was gazetted a townsite in 1899. Freycinet is a national park on the east coast of Tasmania, Australia, 125 km northeast of Hobart. It occupies a large part of the Freycinet Peninsula, named after French navigator Louis de Freycinet, and Schouten Island. Maria Island National Park occupies the whole of Maria Island off the east coast of Tasmania, Australia, 69 km northeast of Hobart or about 90 kilometres by road to Triabunna followed by a ferry ride. The island has had a mixed history, including two convict eras, two industrial eras, a farming era and, finally, becoming the national park that it is today. Beacon - Western Australia

Beacon is 42km north of Bencubbin on the northeast border of wheat growing country. The name was originally Beacon Rock but the current name was adopted in 1931 when the town site was gazetted. The town's motto, 'living on the edge' expresses the feeling of being right on the edge of civilisation.

There is little to attract the casual visitor unless you are fascinated by wheat. There is an impressive wheat silo in town but not much else of note. Around the town is a different story. The shires in this area are all 'camping friendly' and many of the rock outcrops have free camping areas that abound with wildflowers in spring.

The area was originally opened up by sandalwood cutters and in 2007 it was proposed that a sandalwood dray be restored and exhibited The shire has adopted the title of 'The Sandalwood Shire'.

Bride Killed in Helicopter Crash (Warning: Distressing Footage)

Warning: This is a distressing video. A video has been released showing a helicopter crash that killed four people on board a helicopter en-route to a wedding (December, 2016). The 32-year-old bride, Rosemere do Nascimento, had planned to surprise her fiancé Udirley Damasceno, who was waiting at the altar when the chopper crash landed a mile from the reception venue in a rural area on the outskirts of Sao Paulo in Brazil.

While it's *generally* unfair to speculate, the R44 piston machine was in what clearly appears to be IMC. Watch what happens to the aggressive bank around the 1:42 min mark before control is lost. It was careless flying.

All occupants (including a pregnant photopgrapher, Nayla Cristina Neves) were killed.

We are driving around the town of Hedley, British Columbia, Canada (9:25). It was once a prosperous mining town.

The population is a bit over 200 people but once upon a time, it was over 1000 (according to Wikipedia which is never wrong).
