Top 10 Engineering Projects of China
This video is on the top 10 engineering marvels of China.
They are as follows :-
Three gorges dam:
world's largest power station by capacity. That also automatically makes it the largest hydroelectric power station on the planet—with maximum output capacity of 22,500 mega watts from 34 giant turbines. It took nine years long of construction with a staggering 27.6 billion USD, replacing Itaipú Dam that sits in the second place.
9. Danyang kunshan Grand Bridge:
world's longest bridge. Believe it or not, this 164.8 km (102.4 mi) viaduct is part of world's longest HSR line—Beijing-Shanghai Line in which three long bridges along this line listed in the 10 longest bridges in the world. Viaducts are common for high-speed train for a smooth ride on uneven terrain.

8. HSR Network:
world's longest high speed Rail Network. Currently, China has over 20,000 km (12,000 mi) of high-speed rail route with projection of 38,000 km (23,600 mi) by 2025. Over 1.1 billion ridership registered in 2015 alone.
7. Sunway Taihulight:
world's fastest supercomputer. Listed as the fastest supercomputer on the planet by top500.org since June 2016 at 93 petaflops based on LINPACK benchmark, replacing Tianhe-2, another China's supercomputer. Even astonishing when Sunway TaihuLight 100% relying on homegrown technology.
6. Sidu River Bridge:
World's highest Bridge. This is the world's highest bridge by a maximum vertical drop distance from deck which is about 496 m (1,627 ft). Commissioned in November 2009 with construction cost of 720 million Yuan. Located in southern part of China with plenty of deep gorges and steep hills, many similar rails and highway bridges were highly ranked in this category.
5. Guangzhou Metro Line 3:
World's longest railway Tunnel. Commissioned in 2010 after 5 years of construction, it is longer only by 3.3 km (2 mi) of that newly opened Gotthard Base Tunnel in second place. However there are longer tunnels but most of them function as water transfer.
4. New century Global Center:
world's biggest building by floor area. Located in Chengdu, sixth largest city in China, this multipurpose building has a floor area of 1.7 million square meters (18 mil sq ft).
Most of floor dedicated for retails, however its also offers houses offices, conference rooms, a university complex, two commercial centers, hotels, even water theme park at top of building.
3. 500m Aperture spherical telescope:
world's largest filled aperture radio telescope. As its name tells, it has dish with diameter of 500 meter (1,640 ft) made of 4450 triangular panels with 11 meters on each side, in the form of geodesic dome. Begin testing in September 2016, but this radio telescope would be expected to be underutilized due to lack of experts in the area.
2. Shanghai Maglev Train:
Worlds fastest Comercial operating train. Transrapid finally made its first commercial usage of magnetic levitation train as an airport metro ferrying passengers between Longyang Road Station and Pudong international Airport on 30.5 km (19 mi) rail long route. Maximum operating speed is about 431 km/h (268 mph) although its absolute maximum is about 501.
1. south north water transfer project:
among world's largest engineering project. It's a multi-decade running project mega-project since Mao Zedong era aim to deliver 44.8 billion cubic meter of fresh water per year from south to more arid and industrialized northern region such as Beijing, Tianjin and Weihai.

Bunda Cliffs in Australia - End of The World
Located on the Great Australian Bight in Southern Australia, is the vast, featureless Nullarbor Plain - the world’s largest single piece of limestone, covering an area of 270,000 square km and extending some 1,000 km from the east to the west. The area is so flat that the Trans Australian Railway runs across its surface for about 483 kilometers in a completely straight line. On the surface of the plain there are areas of slight depressions where sparse rainfall has slowly dissolved away some of the limestone. There are also places where underground caves or sinkholes have collapsed to form dents in the surface. But mostly, the plain is horizontally flat and devoid of trees, as its Latin name suggests. The Nullarbor Plain ends abruptly at the spectacular Bunda Cliffs, comprising a 200-kilometer-long precipice curving around the Great Australian Bight.
Bunda Cliffs form the southern edge of the Nullarbor Plain which extends far inland. The white coloured base you see near the bottom of the cliff face is Wilson Bluff Limestone. This chalky material formed as part of an ancient seabed when Australia began to separate from Antarctica 65 million years ago. This Wilson Limestone is up to 300 metres thick but only the upper portion is visible in Bunda Cliffs.
Above the white Wilson Limestone are whitish, grey or brown layers of limestone or crystalline rock. Some layers incorporate marine fossils including worms and molluscs indicating their marine origin. Other layers are made up entirely of marine sediment (foraminifera). The cliffs are capped by a hardened layer of windblown sand laid down between 1.6 million and 100,000 year ago.
Over a distance of 85 kilometers along the highway, there are five main lookouts on the cliffs with signed, gravel access roads from the highway. The western lookout is the most popular because visitors can walk to piece of rock jutting out of the cliff that offers a vantage looking point.
At the eastern end of Bunda Cliffs there is a lookout at the Head of the Bight where visitors can stay for hours watching Southern Right Whales in the ocean below the cliffs. Southern Right Whales migrate from the sub-Antarctic in the autumn and give birth to calves in inshore water along the southern Australian coast, then remain in the vicinity for months while the calves put on weight. Head of the Bight is one of these calving/mating grounds.
