1. Doi Inthanon Doi Inthanon National Park
Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand. It is in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province. This mountain is an ultra prominent peak, known in the past as Doi Luang or Doi Ang Ka, meaning the 'crow's pond top'. Near the mountain's base was a pond where many crows gathered. The name Doi Inthanon was given in honour of King Inthawichayanon, one of the last kings of Chiang Mai, who was concerned about the forests in the north and tried to preserve them. He ordered that after his death his remains be interred at Doi Luang, which was then renamed in his honour. Today, the summit of Doi Inthanon is a popular tourist destination for both foreign and Thai tourists, with a peak of 12,000 visitors visiting the summit on New Year's Day. Thailand's dreamy north has national parks galore and tons of amazing day trips to take from Chiang Mai. Our first stop on our hidden Thailand road trip is Doi Inthanon National Park, Thailand's tallest peak.
On the way, we stop by Pha Chor, an orange canyon located about an hour outside of the city. It's an easy, perfect little pit stop before we continue on our way to the Mae Ya Waterfall.
Though Doi Inthanon National Park has many waterfalls, Mae Ya is easily one of the most beautiful, the largest, and the most impressive. It's also the least crowded since it takes an extra 40 minutes to drive to from the park entrance, but it's worth it!
Finally, we finish at the King and Queen Pagodas near the top of Doi Inthanon after a gorgeous drive.

We've been wanting to visit Thailand's highest mountain, Doi Inthanon, for a while, but I wanted to wait and go there with my mom who came to visit us in Chiang Mai with her husband. We chose to spend one of our last days in Chiang Mai outside of the city, so we rented a car and drove a few hours South to the Doi Inthanon National Park.We had an amazing day, and it was the perfect ending to our time in wonderful Chiang Mai. This is the last Thailand vlog for a while, and after this we're going to Kuala Lumpur for a few days and then to SRI LANKA for almost two months. I'm so excited!

Why you should visit Chiang Mai?Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai unexpectedly redefined the word “beautiful” for us. Doi Inthanon National Park ranges between 800 and 2565 meters with the highest peak which is the highest mountain in Thailand. If there is one place you have to go while in the Doi Inthanon National Park, it’s the Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail.
Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail requires a guide at a price of 200 baht per group. But we quickly warmed up to the man who led us, a local Hmong hill tribesman who undoubtedly cared for and respected the mountain. Also Wachirathan Falls and Mae Klang Waterfalls are one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Doi Inthanon.
If you ever think of visiting Doi Inthanon anytime during the year, definitely plan for setting up a tent in the campsite.
