Hey you guys! Thank you for joining me on another journey. We are here at Bryce Canyon National Park in Garfield County. This is one of the top Utah vacations to be had. Its magnificent hoodoos are like nothing you've ever seen before. Driving through Bryce Canyon, the spectacular beauty can be taken in at the viewpoints like these: Sunrise, Sunset, Inspiration and Bryce, Paria View, Swamp Canyon, Whiteman Bench, Farview Point, Piracy Point, Agua Canyon, Ponderosa Canyon, Black Birch Canyon. To more fully experience the park though, we hiked down the horse trail near Sunset Point since it was off-season in February. We encountered some patches of snow and ice, so we were very glad to have ice cleats to put on our hiking boots. The attractions of the park were even more amazing down among the limestone sculptures. It was so interesting to have Ranger Emily tell us about the canyon. We ended up finding a dirt road perfect for mud-bogging in our rental car, a Nissan Versa, outside of Bryce. That was a blast! We found affordable lodging in Panguitch for the night. It was so cool to later experience the night sky in Bryce Canyon and test our astronomy knowledge. This park is easily accessible by flying into Las Vegas or Salt Lake City and then renting a car--I suggest a four wheel drive--and driving the few hours there. Here's a travel tip for you: if you come in the winter, you may need snowshoes. These are some of the sights & trails you should check out: Sunrise Point Sunset Point , Navajo Trail, Queen's Garden Trail , Peek-a-Boo Trail, Inspiration Point, Mossy Cave Trail, Fairyland Trail, Tower Bridge and Natural Bridge.

Hey you guys! Thanks for joining us on another journey. This week, we are still at Arches National Park in Moab, Utah. It was freezing cold! We set out on the trail in Devil's Garden to Landscape Arch and then continued on the Primitive Trail which loops out to Double O Arch. We put cramp-ons to help trek the parts of the trail with snow and ice. The Primitive Trail is no joke; it's very difficult hiking. I like the fact that it is like we're totally out in Mother Nature. April had a challenging time, and referenced her past experiences of slipping & falling. We got to see Partition Arch. Don't forget your camel bags; even though it is so cold, you go through the water at the higher elevation and in the desert. I really enjoyed Navajo Arch. More than a few times, we had a hard time telling where the trail went. I pointed out why you wear hiking boots in that kind of terrain. While this trail definitely had some treacherous parts, it was incredibly beautiful! I tried to help April best maneuver the icy parts. Alvin and Rachel saved us because we had gotten off the trail; they pulled up Google Maps. Double O Arch was very cool. I gave a goofy travel tip about a banana. April contemplated again about how this journey combines her two worst fears. I agreed that there were certainly edgy spots along the way. Alvin had a moment of some difficulty getting down from a point that wasn't on the trail. Make sure to follow Cairns when on a primitive trail; it's the natural markings to keep you headed in the right direction. AllTrails is a good app to use. April got herself lost for a time, so I had to go find her. Thank you for watching my video all the way to the end!

It was crazy windy and definitely chilly, but it was so cool to walk out into the dunes..at times, we felt like we were lost in a desert somewhere in Arabia! Others were there with their sand boards & sleds to ride down the dunes and others still were in their four-wheelers and side-by-sides--I definitely want to go back there to do that. Autumn enjoyed frolicking in the sand, haha. April suggested I do the splits, but I said nope! Share it with a friend and thank you for living life!

Things To Do At Grand Tetons
Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another journey. Today we are at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I convinced him to jump up at the Grand Teton National Park sign so I could get some slo-mo of his awesome girth moving up and down--haha. The Grand Tetons are just a little bit south of Yellowstone National Park, so if are heading to Yellowstone, add the Tetons to your trip--it's definitely worth it. The national parks pass costs about the same as what you would pay for those two parks, so it's a good deal to get the pass. If you are 62 & over, you can get the golden life pass. We took a boat across Jenny Lake to do some trailblazing. The guide on the boat let us know that we were going to be entering bear & moose country, so to give them their space. We headed up the Hidden Falls Trail after getting off the boat across the lake. We found an awesome sitting area to take a break and ponder life. I hope all of you will get off the couch, so to speak, and visit a national park! Izzy 'interviewed' me about bleeding while creating my vlog episodes; I go to great lengths to get the very best shots! ;-) I remind you all in my audience about my adventure challenge; go out this weekend and take some video/pictures and then I'll pick the best one and put it in my next video. I share my travel tip (again) about not buying a bear bell--the bear spray is a much better way to go, so then you might have a chance of actually seeing the animals. We stopped at Inspiration Point which looks out over Jenny Lake. It's only about $15 to ride the boat back & forth across Jenny Lake. We also stopped at the Mormon settlement just outside Teton National Park to take in the amazing scenery with the very cool old structures. Thank you for watching my video all the way to the end! :-D

Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another journey. Today, we are at Goblin Valley State Park in Utah. I love it here. If you think you might head to Capitol Reef National Park or Arches National Park, I highly recommend you add this stop to your vacation! Izzy & I first stopped at a no-name place and wandered around the Mars-like terrain. We got to the valley of the goblins. It is so amazing how the heavier rock-like sediment balances on top of the softer stuff that's like sand. Izzy commented on how crazy hot it was to be walking around in the desert as we were, and how all should be inspired by my adventure-type spirit--haha. Gave me a chance to make a plug for subscribing. ;-) It was really neat to see the start of new goblins. If you're going to be near Moab, Arches or Capitol Reef, you should take advantage of this awesome state park as another thing to do--it's worth it. I strongly feel like it's one of the best things to do in Utah! As a travel tip, make sure to bring a camel bag of water. Bring at least double the amount you think you might need; you can dehydrate fast out here. What to do and where to eat in Twin Falls Idaho
Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another journey. I am still in Twin Falls, Idaho this week. Our Airbnb host Julie had told us about Thousand Springs State Park in Hagerman, Idaho. We were extremely impressed! We started off the day at Malad Gorge and were wowed with Devil's Washbowl. Then we went to Ritter Island. Our friendly Idaho State Parks & Recreation volunteer shared with us some of the island's history. We were fascinated to learn that the springs there are fed by an aquifer that is the size of Rhode Island, and it takes 200 years to come to the surface! So wild to think about. The Magic Valley Antique Tractor Pullers were there that day, volunteering to plow a five-acre plot for oat planting. (The Southern Idaho Draft Horse and Mule Association was going to plant the oats afterwards.) Some were offering free horse-drawn wagon rides, so we decided to climb aboard and explore the island that way. The waterfalls and springs are so crystal clear! And it was neat to watch the antique tractors plowing the field...it was like we'd traveled back in time for a bit. It is cool that they're doing their part to keep history alive. After taking in the rest of the island and Minnie Miller's farm by foot, we set off to check out Minidoka Internment Camp. The locals we had met while kayaking the Snake River (see my previous Twin Falls episode) had told us about this, and we were intrigued. (He teaches high school history, so he was enthusiastic about it.) The national historic site did not disappoint! The property is nestled among rolling farm fields, and its remnants were fascinating to learn about and check out. It was like we were at a Japan Ghost Town. We felt admiration for the Japanese citizens that had to live there, and those that served for the United States armed forces. Our wonderful Airbnb host Julie yet again came through for us in suggesting we eat dinner at Janitizio Family Mexican Restaurant. Their food was pretty tasty and their service was great! Overall, we were quite pleased with our adventure in Twin Falls, Idaho!

Hey you guys! Thanks for joining us on another journey. This week, we were at Zion National Park with April's daughter, Autumn. Travel tip for you...if you're not super early to park your vehicle in the park, a good place to park just outside is Hoodoos Market. For $20 worth of groceries or trinkets, you can park there all day. Better than the $22 or more elsewhere. We set off on the Angels Landing hike. I reminisced about when April & I were there a year ago and I was brainstorming about whether or not I should become a travel vlogger. Despite all of the hours & hours we put into it, we have fun with it. You may want to give up on this hike, more than once, but keep going...it's worth it. Another travel tip; come to Zion in the late fall. There won't be as many people and it won't be so blazing hot. April kind of freaked out when the chain went away for a time--that was her lifeline. Autumn decided to stop (where many others also chose to stop), but on April pressed. She had another moment when she wasn't sure about continuing, but she forged ahead. I was a classic jerk and laughed at her crawling along. ;-) She even slid along on her butt in a couple of sections. (She asked a few hikers to kick my ass for her, hahaha.) She is very afraid of heights and doesn't have the best balance, but she kept on keeping on! And she made it!! This is a once in a lifetime hike, my favorite hike. It took us about an hour and a half to do a mile. Autumn shared her chipmunk encounter stories while she was waiting for us. I told her I would've shrieked if one came on my lap, then we all try out our echoes in the canyon, including a blip from The Three Amigos by a couple of fellow hikers. April had to do her own version of preaching this time because she was so jazzed after conquering her fears and making it to the end of Angels Landing. She reminded us we need to enjoy the journey--life is all about that, and not the destination. Travel has helped her grow more. And like we so often do, we found ourselves getting pie & ice cream afterwards. But not before April & Autumn had free samples of fudge. As we were heading back to the car, we came across Elliott the deer who eats out of humans' hands. It was so cool to be so close to such a regal animal. Things To Do At Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2018
Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another adventure. I am still in/near Sturgis, South Dakota this week. There are so many things to do in this area. We rode the motorcycle around Custer State Park, which is quite lovely. On the Wildlife Loop in the park, we watched some buffalo butt heads and some baby buffalo play. It definitely got our hearts racing to have so many buffalo that close by when we were just on the motorcycle! We got a camping cabin for only $45 a night at Custer Crazy Horse Campground in Custer, South Dakota. It's a really nice campground not too close to (and not too far from) the chaos of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Haha. The campground referred us to Baker's Bakery & Cafe for breakfast, and we could see why! It was absolutely delectable! I got the smothered breakfast burrito, which had been featured in a Rachael Ray magazine--I can totally see why. April got the caramel sticky roll, which was just about perfection--not even too sweet. (We had breakfast there twice; it was that fantastic.) We went to Jewel Cave National Monument, which we discovered is the third largest cave in the world right now. It was an awesome experience to journey through the cave! Our ranger was full of interesting facts, and spunk. ;-) We actually had to go the second morning, because the afternoon we first went, they had sold out of tickets for the cave tours. Keep that in mind if you are wanting to go. We rode the bike to Keystone, South Dakota (another beautiful drive) and walked its old western-ish streets, taking in the sights and sounds and smells. One cool place we stumbled upon was Dahl's Chainsaw Art; his work is incredible! It was a fairly hot (and more humid than SLC) day, so we headed to the Hippie Hole. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, so it was quite the journey! While a very pretty drive, we had to do several miles on dirt roads with ruts & rocks. Then we didn't realize the hike to Hippie Hole was such a sheer descent, hopping boulders and dodging poison oak and crossing side sections of the river. We haven't sweated that much since our days living in Florida! April was especially challenged, as she deals with vertigo when it comes to heights. She said it was the hardest hike she has ever done. Once we finally it to the Hole, we took in the amazing scenery and chatted with others there. I made my way over to the jumping spot while April stayed behind to film. After watching some of the young guys take the plunge, and one girl slip off the waterfall (scary!), I went for it and JUMPED!! Holy cow, that was such a rush! Climbing the rope back up proved to be a bit challenging, but I managed. As clouds started to roll in, we figured we better high-tail it out of there. I was impressed with how swiftly April scurried up the mountainside. We dashed out of there as fast as we could on a dirt road on my Yahama adventure bike--I mean Cruiser. Haha. We stopped at Mount Rushmore on the way back to the campground because it looked like the heavens were about to open up and pour buckets. We enjoyed our visit there, and it never did rain. (Do note that you can't use your National Parks Pass at Mount Rushmore; it's free, but you have to pay for parking.) What an absolutely amazing time we had taking advantage of the things to do near Sturgis, South Dakota!!
