Philadelphia Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Welcome to Philadelphia, considered the birthplace of the United States.
The Declaration of Independence was written and read publicly here in 1776. When you tour Philadelphia, you’ll get a sense of the history that permeates the city through its numerous monuments, symbols, and other landmarks, such as the First Bank of the United States and the warship USS Olympia. Don’t forget to stop by the Liberty Bell and the remains of the Eastern State Penitentiary, which housed notorious criminals like Al Capone.
You don’t need a car to enjoy your Philadelphia sightseeing; take public transportation or rent a bike to explore the city streets at your leisure. Fairmount Park is the perfect place for a stroll, and if you’ve got kids, bring them to the Please Touch Museum, where they can enjoy interactive exhibits and displays that will educate and entertain. If you’ve still got some energy after that, visit the Philadelphia Zoo and make friends with some of the animals. Don’t forget to sample some of the delicious food available in Philadelphia, particularly the fresh goods and cooked meals at the Italian Market.
From culinary delicacies to historical importance, Philadelphia truly has it all.

BEST CHEESESTEAK Sandwich in Philadelphia! Philly Cheesesteak Tour
So glad that I got to do a Cheesesteak Tour when I visited Philadelphia this time because when you are in Philly, you got to eat some good Philly Cheesesteak!!
Cheesesteak sandwiches have always been one of my favorite kind of sandwiches, that's why I had to make it my mission to see what the best Cheesesteak Sandwich that Philly has to offer!
Not only did I get to taste the cheesiest Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich that was oozing out with cheese, but I also got to try one of the biggest Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches too! This Cheesesteak sandwich is filled with an insanely amount of toppings, full of juicy seasoned meat, fried onions, peppers and most of all, and it has so much cheese!
Mmm, thank you, Philadelphia for your fantastic Cheesesteak Sandwiches, I will be back for more of that cheesy sandwich!

⁴ᴷ Walking Tour of Philadelphia, PA - South Street from University City to Penn's Landing
Google Maps Route:
My Philadelphia Walking Tours Playlist:
I walk in Philadelphia, PA from University City near the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) to Penn's Landing via the entire length of South Street.
From Wikipedia:
South Street is a street in Philadelphia, which was originally named Cedar Street in William Penn's original street grid, it is an east-west street forming the southern border of Center City and the northern border for South Philadelphia. The stretch of South Street between Front Street and Seventh Street is known for its bohemian, punk, and generally alternative atmosphere and its diverse urban mix of shops, bars, and eateries. It is one of Philadelphia's largest tourist attractions.

Philadelphia tours
Bus and trolley tours
The Big Bus Company offers tours on double decker buses and horse-drawn carriages. Philadelphia Trolley Works, part of the Big Bus Company, gives 90-minute city tours, plus a 40-minute excursion through Fairmount Park, with a 24-hour hop-on hop-off pass covering 20 stops.
Culinary tours
A delicious way to savour Philly in eateries only the locals know about. City Food Tours offers a walking downtown tour that takes in the full variety of Philly foods, from delicious hot pretzels to the famous cheesesteaks, including a stop at the Reading Terminal Market, the iconic indoor farmers market. Or tour the Italian Market led by native Philly chef Jacqueline Peccina-Kelly on a three-hour tour, which includes stops at DiBruno Brothers, Talluto'sPasta, Pat's King of Steaks, Slice Pizzeria, and Isgro's famous bakery.
Mural art tours
In 1984, the Mural Arts Program was founded in an effort to redirect the energies of graffiti writers from destructive to constructive. They were given paintbrushes to create representative, commemorative or sometimes just aesthetically appealing murals. Each piece represents and affects the community in which it is created. Since that time, more than 3,500 projects have been completed throughout Philadelphia, earning the City the distinction of being the City of Murals. A variety of tours help you make sure you can strategically view as many murals as possible. You can sign up for various organised tours such as the Trolley Tour, Walking Tour, Love Letter Train Tour, and the brand new Sculptures and Murals Tour. You can even hire your own personal guide.
Segway tours
Riding a segway around Philly's sights is a fun way to see the city. Beginning opposite the Rocky statue, you'll glide your way for nearly three hours around all the top sights with a personal guide who'll provide information to you via a wireless headset.
Walking tours
See the sights at your own pace and rent a tour CD from Audio Walk & Tour of Historic Philadelphia, which is available at Independence Visitor Center, 6th and Market Streets, and Lights of Liberty, 6th and Chestnut Streets.
Excursions from Philadelphia
Bucks County
The old farmhouses and covered bridges that dot the lush countryside of Bucks County provide the perfect setting for its art colonies, summer theatre, country inns and even wineries. It's an area of outstanding natural beauty alongside the Delaware River just 35km (22 miles) from Center City. Many writers and artists based in New York have also lived here, including Pearl Buck and James Michener (there is a museum in Michener's honour at Doylestown), as well as Oscar Hammerstein and the pop singer Pink. New Hope in particular, with its collection of stone houses, narrow alleys, boutiques and galleries is one of Bucks' most visited towns.
Hershey
When Milton S Hershey bought 485 hectares (1,200 acres) of farm land in 1903 to build a new factory to produce his unique chocolate, little did he realise he was creating a new town too. But just like the other great chocolate pioneer, Cadbury in the UK, a township was built to house his employees, and the town of Hershey was born. Located in central Pennsylvania's Derry Township, approximately 130km (81 miles) from Philadelphia, the town grew into what it is today, a paradise of all things chocolate. Known as Chocolatetown USA, 'the sweetest place on earth', this chocoholic Garden of Eden is a fun excursion. There's Hershey's Chocolate World, Hersheypark (an amusement park featuring 60 attractions and a zoo), two hotels and even a chocolate spa. Do not miss the 3D movie complete with sensory effects and dancing candy bars at Hershey World.

Quick Trip to Philly | Philadelphia, PA
This is a little different style of video than normal, but we like it. What do you think?
We rented a car with some friends and drove down to Philly to tour the new LDS (Mormon) Temple. It's open to the public for a few weeks before they limit it to just members of the church. It's super pretty, inside and out. We especially liked the rooftop garden above the visitor's center next door. They don't let you film inside the temple, but you can see pictures here:
Before the temple, we ran up the Rocky steps and meandered through Fairmount Park. It's beautiful! I'd love to come back and run through it!
We ate cheese steaks at Sonny's and LOTS of doughnuts from Beiler's. It was a great day. Hope you enjoyed the video.
