Corwen is a Town, community and electoral ward in the county of Denbighshire in Wales; it was previously part of the county of Merioneth. Corwen stands on the banks of the River Dee beneath the Berwyn mountains. . The town is situated 10 miles (16 km) west of Llangollen and 13 miles (21 km) south of Ruthin.
Corwen is best known for its connections with Owain Glyndŵr, who proclaimed himself Prince of Wales on 16 September 1400, from his nearby manor of Glyndyfrdwy, which began his fourteen-year rebellion against English rule. A life-size bronze statue of the prince mounted on his battle horse was installed in The Square in 2007. It commemorates the day he was proclaimed the last true Prince of Wales in 1400. The town grew as a centre for cattle drovers. Attractions in Corwen include the motte of a Norman castle, the thirteenth century Church of St Mael and St Sulien and the Capel Rûg built in 1637 by William Salesbury. Corwen Golf Club (now defunct) was founded in 1909. The club closed at the onset of WW2
Located in the hills of north Wales, the main economy of Corwen is based in and around farming. The town's main employer is local trailer manufacturer Ifor Williams Trailers, started by a farmer looking to transport sheep to the local market.
In the 1860s Corwen was linked to the national rail network in 1864 by a line from Ruthin along the Vale of Clwyd and in 1865 with a Great Western Railway branch line along the Dee valley from Ruabon. The station was a vital development in the town's importance as the centre of the local Agriculture industry. Unfortunately neither survived the Beeching Axe in the 1960s. The town is now linked to the Llangollen Railway, with a temporary station, Corwen East (Welsh: Dwyrain Corwen), which opened on 22 October 2014. The permanent way had been extended into Corwen in late spring 2014, but work is still required to construct a new permanent Corwen railway station alongside the town's main car-park.
Bus services in Corwen were primarily provided by GHA Coaches with routes available to Wrexham via Llangollen on services 5 and T3, Barmouth via Bala and Dolgellau on service T3 (now operated by Lloyds Coaches), and to Ruthin on service X5 (now operated by Arriva Buses Wales), with through services continuing to Denbigh. Llew Jones operate a twice daily, weekday service to Llanrwst with one journey extended to/from Bala.
Corwen is the last sizeable town on the A5 road from London to Holyhead until Betws-y-Coed is reached. Because of this it still contains a number of hotels which were used in the past as coaching inns for the Mail coach and stagecoaches. Although the A5 is no longer the most important road to Holyhead, having been superseded by the coastal route of the A55, there is still significant traffic travelling through the town centre’s narrow main street.
Corwen hosted the National Eisteddfod in 1919. The Pavilion in the town has played an important part in Welsh culture throughout the 20th century. It has hosted several concerts and eisteddfodau. It was also the venue for the first concerts performed by Edward H. Dafis, the first Welsh-language rock band to receive significant press notice, in August 1973.

Day out at Llangollen Railway,Denbighshire,Wales and filmed in Full HD,1080p.Catching the 11.00am from Llangollen to Carrog via Berwyn, and Glyndyfrdwy through the outstandingly beautiful Dee Valley.Taking in the scenery firstly around Llangollen,with the River Dee,Welsh: Afon Dyfrdwy running through the town and great views everywhere you look.Fronted by Steam Train,GWR 7822 Foxcote Manor to Carrog.The line follows the course of the River Dee upstream. Chainbridge crosses the River Dee at Berwyn.Great scenery along this route.Next stop Glyndyfrdwy then Carrog,where we step off for a look around.We catch the 13.00 train,Carrog to Glyndyfrdwy which is fronted by Steam Train,GWR 3802.Stepping off for a look around this station before catching a Railcar dmu back to Llangollen,and walk around the town.Great day out and stunning scenery.The bridge at Llangollen was built about 1345 by John Trevor of nearby Trevor Hall,who later became Bishop of St Asaph.The bridge was later extended in the 1860's to cross the railway.Llangollen takes its name from Saint Collen,a 6th Century Monk who founded the church by the river.The water mill opposite Llangollen Station has been converted into a public house.The building is over 600 years old and originally used to grind flour for farmers.All featured in the video.รถจักรไอน้ำ

During the annual Sixties Weekend, the Llangollen Railway and the North West Road Transport Museum provide free bus rides between stations along the line. Running the service this year were an open-topped 1963 Leyland Titan and a 1953 Guy Arab IV.
This video was made with a Nikon D90 on an extended monopod in my lap on the top deck of the Titan; aiming was thus something of a guesstimation, but vibration was minimised. The route is mainly along the A5 to Glyndyfrdwy, where a classic car and bike gathering was in progress. I shall record the Carrog leg next year, if I get a chance.
The North West Road Transport Museum in St Helens, Lancashire has a large collection of classic and vintage buses, trucks, fire appliances and other vehicles, and is well worth a visit. After making the trip to Craven Arms to see 70013 Oliver Cromwell we decided to carry on up to Llangollen Railway where the Steel Steam & Stars gala was entering the final weekend and was able to catch a bit of the late afternoon action and was treated to Britannia departing Glyndyfrdwy Station In full affect with lot's of steam and plenty of chimes hope in enjoy .
A4 60008 Dwight D. Eisenhower arrives in Halifax 19 August 2012
A4 60008 Dwight D. Eisenhower is on its way to the National Railway Museum in York, England for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Mallard's world steam speed record. The locomotive.and its tender traveled on two flat cars from Green Bay Wisconsin to Halifax, Nova Scotia where it arrived on the damp and dull morning of 19 August 2012. The final leg from Moncton to Halifax was on CN intermodal train # 120 pulled by 4 locomotives with a total horsepower of almost 17,000! There were 153 freight cars on the train.
The move is being filmed by Windfall for an episode of Monster Moves. The company doing the move is Moveright International Limited. This is the same company that moved Dunrobin (see my youtube video).
After DDE is unloaded, the special flat cars will be returned to Montreal where A4 Dominion of Canada will be loaded.
After transfering to mafis (container platforms) both locomotives will then go on an ACL container ship to Britain. The unloading is shown in the second video
