That is the name of local restaurants where you can find traditional dishes like gallo pinto, casados and more. They are generally not too expensive and are open air, small family run places. Hey guys, right here just move your camera to where I am. OK so right now we are in a Cosa Rican typical soda. Soda is like a local restaurant, this is where most of the Ticos go to eat and you can find them all over. So we got a lot of readers who always ask us about where do you guys eat, where is the local food and what is a local gastronomic experience and this is it.
This is like where normal Ticos come to eat every day and this is one of our favorite places in the cOnchal Brasilito area. The name of this soda is Soda Brasilito and if you go to the other side you will see Samantha holding the menu but I'm going to show you some normal ideas like all the Costa Rican sodas have Salsa Lizano, and some spices and some hot sauce. They are not like the most luxury place to go, you know you don't usually find AC, usually there's a fan, usually it's managed by a local family but the food is good, this is what I grew up eating every time going out so if you guys want to experience some local food, actually our food is coming.
So this is good, the food came just right on time and in my case, I got rice with chicken which is, hopefully you guys can see it. Go to Samantha's side. I got rice with shrimp this is a very normal lunch/dinner dish that comes with salad, fries and this one has a lot of rice. And then I got a rice with chicken which is pretty much like white rice with shredded chicken and chopepd onions and carrots and it's one of my favorite local dishes.
And that is something, they always give you ketchup and mayo which is very good and our most traditional lunch is casado which is rice, beans, a meat, salad but this is what we ordered today. And the price for this, how much is this actually Samantha can you check the menus so people can see what they serve. Well they actually have a lot of stuff like ceviche, salad, they also have soup a lot of casados which are 2800 colones which is around $6 and what we got, mine is $7 and his is around $6 so it's not too bad so if you want to eat cheap and this is one of the better options because sodas are not that expensive, it's where locals go and usually you can get a lunch from $6-10 with a drink.
So usually it looks just like this, you'll see a guy outside trying to get you in.
So we're going to eat now and I hope this gives you a better idea of what a soda looks like and especially in this soda you see a combination of locals and foreigners, especially this soda because it's in a touristic area and a lot of sodas around the area are kind of expensive but the food is good, clean, big portions and we will probably pay like $15 for this lunch for two people.
