On my third day in the beautiful city of Charlotte, North Carolina, I went to the South End area had some incredible fried chicken and fish at a local favorite restaurant that has been serving delicious food for nearly sixty years. Later, I went on an amazing craft beer tour! Come join me as I explore the Queen City’s South End district!

Up first is Price’s Chicken Coop, a small, local joint that has been selling some of North Carolina’s best soul food since 1962. I had to try their mouthwatering fish with tartar sauce, famous fried chicken, fries, hush puppies, cole slaw, and a refreshing tea. This was one of my favorite meals I had while I was in Charlotte. I was in Southern fried food heaven!

My next stop was Wooden Robot Brewery, an award-winning local urban farmhouse brewery that was started by a pair of guys who have been best friends since middle school. I tried their Night Mayor porter, Good Morning Vietnam blonde ale, Space Magic IPA, Pretzel Gose sour, Cedar Grove farmhouse ale, and their Botoberfest lager. Some of the best beers I had in Charlotte!
Wooden Robot Brewery:
My final stop was Sycamore Brewing, which was started by a husband and wife duo back in 2013 and has won several awards since then. I tried their maple pecan macchiato blonde, Mountain Candy IPA, peanut butter porter, Party Bear bourbon barrel aged stout, Sun Grown lager, Southern Girl blonde ale, more Mountain Candy IPA, and Rosé Cider. These beers were amazing!

During my visit to Jacksonville, Florida I had an epic day visiting Florida's only rice farm, eating a sizzling Tex Mex feast and visiting one of Jacksonville's best breweries!

On my second morning in Jacksonville I started off the morning by heading to Fox Diner, an American style diner with some delicious with some delicious southern American breakfast.
Next I drop 30 minutes north to Congaree and Penn, the only rice farm in the state of Florida. Their I tried some cider and went blackberry picking. It was one of my favorite authentic Floridan experiences ever!
For lunch I headed to El Jefe Tex Mex and had a huge feast! From Tamalas, to Queso Fondido and some other Tex Mex delicacies this one of my favortie Tex Mex meals of all time! It was so good!
To end the day I headed to Engine 15 Brewing. Sean the co-owner gave me a tour of the brewery and then I tried a flight of their amazing beers. My favorite was their Cherry Lime Gose.

Maeklong Railway Market is certainly unique. The market is a day trip from Bangkok and definitely worth a visit.
When the train comes through, the market vendors leap into action to roll back their awnings and push their stalls out of the way of the oncoming train.
As soon as the train passes, the stalls are pushed back into place and it’s business as usual.

I met up with friends for dinner at Taiyoshi Hakyuban, a former-brothel-turned-restaurant that gives off major Spirited Away vibes. Though the building (made in 1918 during the Taisho era) is considered a heritage site, it shows clear signs of deterioration that made it all the more eerie. We could hear other customers, but didn’t see them in the winding narrow halls, and while the staff certainly showed the expected level of Japanese hospitality, they were just somber enough to leave us a bit spooked. This building is in Tobita, one of several red light districts in Osaka (prostitution was made illegal in 1958, so these establishments operate through a series of loopholes that the customers, community, law enforcement, and government all seem to collectively accept). We had to walk through the streets, which was certainly an experience in itself and a unique glimpse into the sex industry in Japan.
