In this video, the family from Tribe on a Quest, head to British Columbia to visit Victoria British Columbia and Vancouver British Columbia with kids. They travel to British Columbia on the Clipper Vacations Victoria Clipper ferry, stay at the Delta Hotels Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort, visit the Butchart Gardens, the Victoria Butterfly Gardens. From there they take the British Columbia ferry service from Victoria to Vancouver, where they stay at the Westin Grand Vancouver, visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Stanley Park Vancouver, take a horse-drawn carriage in Stanley Park Vancouver, and visit the Vancouver Aquarium. After 4 fun-filled days in British Columbia, they head home to Seattle on the Amtrak Cascades Train from British Columbia to Seattle.
My housemate Grayson wanted to check out the night market in Richmond, a city in Greater Vancouver where over half of the residents are Chinese. The food there was ok, but quite pricey. Also they charged $4.25 for admission in addition to any purchase inside!

A Long Weekend at Grindstone Campground, Part One.
Carole and I had a long weekend on September and headed up to Grindstone Campground. It's a National Forest site located at the foot of Mount Rogers (the highest summit in Virginia) in what is called The Mount Rogers National Recreation Area.
In addition to being a beautiful area with high mountains, rushing streams, dense forests, and waterfalls, the Recreation Area offers so many outdoor activities and so many options that you could take years visiting the spot and never exhaust the opportunities to find something new.
Here is a video showcasing the first part of our weekend trip. We packed a lot into a short amount of time.
James Peak Wilderness (Colorado) Backpacking - September 2017
A long-planned family RV trip to Colorado took the place of my annual backpacking trip with my son, Christian, in 2017, but thanks to some banked airline dollars I was able to squeeze a quick 'bonus' backpacking trip in with Christian to Colorado in early September 2017.
We decided to head up into the James Peak Wilderness southwest of Christian's current hometown of Boulder, Colorado. Our Labor Day weekend timing couldn't have been worse, and as expected the crowds were huge, but I found that the James Peak Wilderness is well-suited to huge crowds - the East Portal Trailhead has essentially unlimited parking, the potential destinations off of the main South Boulder Creek Trail are numerous, and the camping options near all those destinations are plentiful and nice.
In addition to being able to handle throngs of hikers, the James Peak Wilderness is also a beautiful location. The constant sound of flowing water accompanies you all the way to any one of numerous tree-lined and pristine alpine lakes. It's hard to imagine you're only a short drive and a sub-10 mile hike from Denver and Boulder.
Similar to my other recent backpacking videos, this one has 30+ minutes of video followed by a 6 minute slide show at the end. It is meant to be an 'immersive' experience that allows you to come along with me on the trip. If you aren't interested in 'riding along on my shoulder' for an hour of video, just skip to the end and watch the slideshow and you'll still get a good overview of our trip.

Landscape Photography: Big Branch Falls (Virginia)
Welcome to my first photography vlog. This is my attempt to shoot more of the things that Iâm passionate about (landscapes). Iâm documenting my journey to various locations and starting with a focus on waterfalls in Virginia. If opportunities for other locations arise Iâll include those in this series as well. This episode includes travel to our destination of Big Branch Falls in Virginia. We made a few detours along the way to other scenic spots including a damn of impressive proportions.
Itâs a little longer than I intended, but itâs true to the experience. It points out some spots I thought would have good results and Iâm honest about what wasnât a good photo (so we move on). I describe my equipment and settings for the shots I captured and liked as well as finished versions of those images. Youâll find links to those below. I hope that this inspires you to pursue your passions as well. Remember to stop and enjoy the beauty that you find along the way.
