Breakfast With The Seals At The Cornish Seal Sanctuary
We take a trip to see the rescue seals at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. The sanctuary is based in Gweek, about 35 minutes from where we were staying in St Ives.
We try the ‘Breakfast with the Seals’ experience which gets you in at 10am and gives you a private VIP tour of the sanctuary with a member of the team (thanks to our guide, Ellie).
It was a great insight into the work of the sanctuary and we highly recommend it.
The original sanctuary began rescuing seals in 1958 when the founder, Ken Jones, discovered a baby seal washed up on the beach. Since then the Cornish Seal Sanctuary has rescued more than 2000 seals.
Each year about 50 seals are rescued but with all the recent storms, the sanctuary have rescued more seal pups than ever before.

As well as seals, the sanctuary is also the permanent home to older seals who are unable to survive in the wild and Sea Lions rescued from zoos around Europe.

CORNWALL TRANQUIL WALK - Durgan and Porth Navas
Parking at Bosveal car park on the road to Durgan, the walk takes you back inland towards Higher Penpol, tracking across fields to the creek of Porthnavas. After passing the Budock Vean Hotel, returning to Durgan via a secluded woodland lane. Why not have an explore of Durgan village and beach, maybe an ice cream before returning to your car.
We filmed this walk in June 2018 but I think that even in August, you will find this walk will be tranquil and peaceful, encountering few people until you reach Durgan Beach.

Form Wikipedia: Paradise Park is a zoo situated in Hayle, Cornwall, England. It has over 650 birds and animals. It is currently the home of the World Parrot Trust. Daily events include: penguin feeding (with an opportunity for volunteer child to throw fish to the penguins), ‘Eagles of Paradise Display‘ with a variety of birds including owls and eagles, and a ‘Free flying bird show‘ display including several varieties of parrot. There is an opportunity on some days to feed little parrots from pots of nectar during the summer months. There is an indoor play centre including soft play equipment and three different types of slides. A café and the gift shop are located at the entrance to the site
