Haflong is a town and headquarters of Dima Hasao (former North Cachar Hills) in India in the state of Assam. It is the only hill station in Assam.[2] Haflong is a Dimasa word meaning Anthill.

Haflong Hill is a hill station located in the Indian state of Assam. This hill station is very popular among tourists as it is one of the most scenic destinations in the North Eastern part of India. This hill station is located a small distance away from Silchar, and can easily be reached. For this reason, many local families and tourists throng to this hill throughout the year.
The entire region is enveloped in greenery and the landscape is filled with rolling hills and picturesque settings. Haflong Hill will be the perfect destination for you if you're looking to spend your vacation in a peaceful and tranquil region. You can also opt for many activities in this place, as the region is quite well known for its trekking and hiking amenities. There are many important tourist hotspots in and around Haflong Hill.
You can visit the Haflong Lake, which is located in the hill station's central part. This large lake provides boating facilities too. Jatinga is another famous tourist spot located a small distance away from Haflong Hill. This place is a haven for bird watchers. You can also visit Mailbong during your trip to Haflong Hill. This town is now in ruins, but was once the capital of the Dimasa Kachari kingdom.

I woke up in a truck at Only hill station of Assam ( Haflong ) It is a beautiful hill station and there is also rail connectivity, after that i came to road i got HitchHike upto Railway Station
Lumding to New Haflong and then upto Silchar train route is so amazing and very beautiful, I took this train from New Haflong Railway Station
When Train Start from New Haflong Railway Station of Assam real Adventure began, The Train was going through most beautiful mountains, Rivers and waterfalls, It was Awesome
I reached Silchar Railway Station at nearly 3 pm and then took another train for Bairabi Railway Station of Mizoram
This train was on 4:30 pm
I got 2 girls from Mizoram and they became my friend and it was first time when i meet to a Mizo girl, we talked a lot and she became my friend and then she asked me at that night where will you stay and i said in train or Bairabi Railway Station and then she said it is not safe, you can sleep on my home and then i went to her home and slept on her home that night

In this video, you will see us travelling from Thenzawl to Aizawl. We wanted to do a short local sightseeing tour in Aizawl, but the weather in Aizawl did not allow us to do so. It was the second last day of our Mizoram trip. The next day we had our flights from Aizawl to Kolkata, so instead of travelling for 2 hours from Aizawl city to the Lengpui airport, we planned to stay in a hotel near Lengpui airport. Finally, we stayed in Lengpui tourist resort.
The next day we had to travel only 3 kilometres from Lengpui tourist resort to Lengpui Airport. My parents took LTC, so they flew with Air India's Aizawl-Kolkata flight, whereas we took Jet Airways direct flight from Aizawl to Kolkata.
You will also get a glimpse of Aizawl Theological college, ATC Viewpoint and KV paradise which are popular tourist spots in Aizawl.

About 88.90 lakh (8.89 million) foreign tourists arrived in India in 2016 compared to 80.27 lakh (8.027 million) in 2015, recording a growth of 10.7%. Domestic tourist visits to all states and Union Territories numbered 1,036.35 million in 2012, an increase of 16.5% from 2011. In 2014, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh were the most popular states for tourists. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Agra and Jaipur have been the five most visited cities of India by foreign tourists during the year 2015. Worldwide, Delhi is ranked at 28 by the number of foreign tourist arrivals, while Mumbai is ranked at 30, Chennai at 43, Agra at 45, Jaipur at 52 and Kolkata at 90.
The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017 ranks India 40th out of 136 countries overall. The report ranks the price competitiveness of India's tourism sector 10th out of 136 countries. It mentions that India has quite good air transport (ranked 32nd), particularly given the country’s stage of development, and reasonable ground transport infrastructure (ranked 29th). The country also scores high on natural and cultural resources (ranked 9th). Some other aspects of its tourism infrastructure remain somewhat underdeveloped however. The nation has very few hotel rooms per capita by international comparison and low ATM penetration. The World Tourism Organization reported that India's receipts from tourism during 2012 ranked 16th in the world, and 7th among Asian and Pacific countries.
