The region was inhabited by nomadic tribes until the Legio III Augusta established a camp at Ammaedara. Through the surrender of the Berber leader Tacfarinas the region was pacified and populated under the Emperor Vespasian and his sons between 67 and 69. Some inscriptions found in the city suggest that the settlement had during the 2nd century, reached great prosperity through the olive industry. The resulting prosperity made possible the construction of a splendid forum and other important buildings. The city began to decline during the Late Empire, during which the city was surrounded and occupied by Vandals, demonstrated by the appearance of temples dedicated to the barbarian gods. The arrival of the Byzantines inaugurated a new period of splendor. The Prefect Gregory moved his capital there from Carthage in the seventh century, and declared independence from Byzantium. A year later the city was sacked by the first Arab invaders, and Gregory was killed. The Arabs abandoned the city and the region returned to a nomadic lifestyle.

Hydra Island Greece
Ένα απο τα πιο γνωστά νησιά του Αργοσαρωνικού, με πλούσια ναυτική παράδοση και έντονα κοσμοπολίτικο χαρακτήρα, που προσελκύει πολλές γνωστές προσωπικότητες από την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Τα κανονιοστάσια στο λιμάνι, τα επιβλητικά αρχοντικά, η Σχολή Εμποροπλοιάρχων και τα ιστορικά μοναστήρια αποτελούν δείγμα του ένδοξου παρελθόντος της Ύδρας. Σημαντικές οικογένειες που πρωταγωνίστησαν στην Επανάσταση του 1821 (Κουντουριώτη, Μιαούλη, Κριεζή, Τομπάζη κ.ά.) κατάγονταν από την Ύδρα.
Η πόλη της Ύδρας είναι χτισμένη αμφιθεατρικά γύρω από το λιμάνι, όπου μικρά καΐκια, τουριστικά σκάφη και κρουαζιερόπλοια κατακλύζουν την προβλήτα, κυρίως τους καλοκαιρινούς μήνες. Τα πέτρινα αρχοντικά της Ύδρας στέκουν σαν φρούρια στο βραχώδες τοπίο, τονίζοντας τη μεγαλοπρέπεια του νησιού.

Hydra, built in the shape of an amphitheatre on a slope overlooking the Argosaronic gulf, is one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Traditional stone mansions, narrow cobblestoned streets, secluded squares and above all the banning of cars and the use of around 500 donkeys as means of public transportation, explain the reason why Hydra preserved its distinctive atmosphere through the passage of time. So I tried to price a Celebrity Cruise out of Miami to the Caribbean today and I compared Costco Travel Services to the web site run by Vacations To Go. Visite du site archéologique de Bulla Regia
Situé à quelques kilomètres au nord de la ville de Jendouba, dans le nord-ouest du pays. Le site archéologique de Bulla Regia constitue l'une des étapes principales du tourisme culturel dans cette région. Les vestiges sont les témoins de plus de 17 siècles de l'histoire d'une agglomération fondée par les Numides à la fin du VIe siècle avant J.-C. Plus tard c'est devenue assez vite une résidence royale.
Autonome au début de la période romaine, elle fut érigée en municipe sous les Flaviens et en colonie romaine sous l'empreur Hadrien ( 117-138). A la fin du Ve siècle, ses habitants ont été jugés comme de mauvais chrétiens par Augustin
Ses vestiges archéologiques qui s'étendent sur plus de 60 ha, offrent au visiteur des témoignages de la période protohistorique (dolmen et hanout) et numide ( urbanisme, niveaux d'habitat, céramique et numismatique, épigraphie, ect), et surtout, de la période romaine ( forum, temples, marché, monuments de spectacle, thermes publics, monuments hydrauliques, nécropoles, ...etc.) et paléochrétienne ( églises).
Mais ce qui fait la célébrité du site, ce sont ses demeures patriciennes ornées de très beaux pavements de mosaïques figurées et, surtout, d'étage souterrain, ce qui est à ce jour sans exemple dans l'architecture domestique antique.
