Harbin, China is known for its ice festival and freezing cold weather. We didn't see the snow festival, yet, but we definitely got the freezing cold weather our first day here. People always adapt to their surroundings even when it is way below -17 degrees Celsius, 0 degrees Fahrenheit for most of the winter. A daily Polar Plunge into a swimming pool takes place daily along the frozen Songhua River. Polar bear swimming in traditionally popular in China's northeast, believed to improve circulation and benefit health. You can watch my polar plunge video in the Arctic on YouTube and I must say, it did momentary wonders for my circulation!
Other activities are ice tubing, ice boating, sled dogs, ice skating, ice bicycles, ice sledding and an intrepid group of women were enjoying and outside aerobics class. They sure don't let the cold stop them...
