VISITING GENAZZANO - EN
Visiting Genazzano, from Australia!
Genazzano is a lovely town not too far from Rome, so if you are staying in the big Capital for a while, this is definitely worth a visit!
You can easily get there by bus or in 1 hour drive on the highway towards Naples.
Must see attractions from the top down:
Colonna Castle with its park and the Contemporary Art Gallery; getting lost among hundreds of these narrow medieval alleys is amazing;
the Church Lady of the Good Counsel is apparently a very popular attraction for religious tourism and if you're lucky enough someone will tell you the story about a miracle...
On the way, you'll get along these small local shops, sometimes the merchant will be sitting on the street waiting for customers, here is probably the origin of the street food as we see it nowadays.
If open, visit also the Church Santa Croce; a few steps more and you can see the old entrance and walls of the medieval town.
As last, better if by the sunset, Ninfeo Bramante is the ruins of an ancient theater dated XVI' century.
Best period to go for me is June-July, check out when is going to be the next PALIO DI BRANCALEONE and INFIORATA!
Enjoy!

You Can Get Anything You Want: On Schroon Lake, A Classic American General Store Still Thrives
Building on a history stretching back more than 150 years, the Adirondack General Store flourishes in the twenty-first century by offering the best of the old and the new. Maureen and Robert Diaz, who made a bold move from Queens to the remote hamlet of Adirondack to buy and run the place, are the hard-working proprietors. They sell everything from fishing poles to corn flakes, microbrew for grown-ups to retro candy for the kids, and even serve home-cooked meals. It's the kind of place you pop in to grab a jar of pickles and wind up spending half a day, browsing the aisles, talking by the woodstove, catching up with neighbors, meeting travelers, and reveling in the fine food and the old-time hardwood atmosphere.
