Chippenham is a historic market town in Wiltshire, England, 13 miles east of Bath and 96 miles west of London. Chippenham was established on a crossing of the River Avon and some form of settlement is believed to have existed there since before Roman times. Chippenham was a royal vill, and probably a royal hunting lodge, under Alfred the Great. The primary school, King's Lodge School, gets its name from this tradition.
Chippenham continued to grow when the Great Western Railway arrived in 1841. The town of Chippenham is now a commuter town. Chippenham is twinned with La Flèche in France and Friedberg in Germany. The town's motto is Unity and Loyalty.
Chippenham is in western Wiltshire, at a prominent crossing of the River Avon, between the Marlborough Downs to the east, the southern Cotswolds to the north and west and Salisbury Plain to the southeast. The town of Chippenham is surrounded by sparsely populated countryside and there are several woodlands in or very near the town, such as Bird's Marsh, Vincients Wood and Briars Wood.
Suburbs include Cepen Park (North & South), Hardenhuish, Monkton, Lowden, Pewsham, Primrose Hill, Englands, Frogwell, Derriads, The Folly, Redland, Queens Crescent, Lackham, Fenway Park, and Hill Rise, loosely corresponding to local government wards. Chippenham lies 4 miles south of the M4 motorway, which links the town to Bristol, Swindon, South Wales and London.
Chippenham railway station is on the Great Western Main Line and is served by services between London Paddington and the West Country via Bristol Temple Meads or Swindon, and is famous for its railway arches and other buildings engineered by Isambard Kingdom Brunel as part of the Great Western Railway development. Historically a market town, Chippenham's economy has since changed to that of a commuter town with residents travelling to workplaces in Bath, Bristol, Swindon and even London (almost 100 miles to the east).
Surrounding the town are a number of stone-built villages, including Lacock (National Trust), Biddestone, Bremhill, and Castle Combe. The great house and art treasures of Longleat, Bowood House, Lacock Abbey, Sheldon Manor and Corsham Court are within easy reach. Chippenham Museum and Heritage Centre is in the town centre and tells the story of the market town.

Knighton is a small market town in Powys, Wales, on the River Teme and the English-Welsh border. Knighton railway station, as well as a small part of the town, is in Shropshire, England. The name derives from the Old English for A settlement of servants. This Anglo-Saxon settlement later became a Norman fortified town. Tref-y-clawdd, its Welsh name, means town on the dyke (i.e. Offa's Dyke) and was first recorded in 1262.
The name Knighton probably derives from the Old English words cniht and tūn meaning, respectively, ... a soldier, personal follower, young man, servant, thane, freeman and ... farm, settlement, homestead. This implies that the settlement was perhaps founded as the result of a grant of land to freemen.
Knighton is known for a well-preserved section of Offa's Dyke. Intriguingly, Wat's Dyke also runs parallel to Offa's Dyke and a few miles to the east. An earthwork that runs north-south along the English/Welsh border from Basingwerk near Holywell to Oswestry. The dykes aside, two Norman castles, constructed in the 12th century, are the oldest survivors in modern Knighton.
Knighton first prospered as a centre of the wool trade in the 15th century and was later an important point on the two drover routes from Montgomery to Hereford, and from London to Aberystwyth. Otherwise, Knighton was remote from the centres of commerce. It seemed likely that the railway revolution would also fail to reach the town; the 1840s and 1850s saw considerable railway building right across Great Britain but Radnorshire had a small population and little industry.
On the last Saturday in August the town holds its annual Carnival and Show, which attracts thousands of visitors to the town from all over the world. It features two parades, one at midday, and another at around 8 pm; these consist of various themed carnival floats and people dressed in fancy dress. The show takes place at the town's showground at Bryn-y-Castell; also home to Knighton Town F.C., Knighton Cricket Club and Knighton Hockey Club.
Knighton Community Centre is the towns largest venue and plays host to many events such as discos, performances, wrestling, bands, artists along with local clubs and organisations. Just outside Knighton and visible for many miles, is an observatory with a telescope, Europe's largest camera obscura and a planetarium.
Knighton is at the centre or the start of two National Trails; Glyndŵr's Way and Offa's Dyke Path. The Offa's Dyke Association has a visitors' centre in the town alongside the site of the ceremony at which John Hunt, Baron Hunt of Llanfair Waterdine inaugurated the long distance footpath in 1971.
Knighton is 137 miles (220 km) from the UK capital city, London; 86 miles (138 km) from the Welsh capital of Cardiff; and, 19 miles (31 km) from the county town, Llandrindod Wells. For the smaller part of Knighton that is in Shropshire, the district administrative centre of Ludlow is 16 miles (26 km) distant and the county town of Shrewsbury is 34 miles (55 km) away. The town is remote but is connected with the following towns and villages.

Arriving at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). If this is your first visit to London Heathrow Terminal 5 you should find this video helpful for getting an idea of the airport procedures when you arrive at London Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom.
This London Heathrow Airport footage is filmed from the disembarkation of our flight (a British Airways flight from Copenhagen), through the walk to arrivals area where we eventually purchase our London Underground rail tickets to London. Our walk begins where we have just disembarked our plane and are walking through Heathrow Airport´s Terminal 5 towards Immigration / Passport Control. To get to the Heathrow Immigration / Passport Control area we take an Airport Train Shuttle. The Passport Control process at Heathrow Airport was very quick as we used the automated Passport scanner (we are EU citizens). After clearing Immigration we start to make our way to the Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 Baggage Claim area. We quickly claim our luggage and then make our way through the airport Customs area where you choose the red entrance if you have something to declare or the green entrance if you have nothing to declare. Once we have passed Heathrow Airports Customs we find our selves in the Heathrow Airport arrivals. The arrivals area is full of people / chauffeurs waiting to pick up passengers. We have decided that we will make our way into London City with the London Underground (The Tube) and therefore the process of where to buy tickets for the train from Heathrow Airport to London is covered too. In our case we were advised to buy the London Oyster Travel Card, and we give viewers a brief explanation of what that is.
All in all we found that Arriving at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 was easy and the airport signs were very good in pointing us in the right direction. The only issue / confusing part was whether or not we were supposed to use the Airport Shuttle transfer to get to the Immigration area or whether the Heathrow Airport Shuttle Train was only for passengers who had a transfer flight from Heathrow Airport (the train was for both arriving and transferring passengers).

It was the busiest terminal at the airport, measured both by passenger numbers and flight movements...

The Best View in London | DAY 142
London has a number of great spots to photograph the city, but we think we found one of the best. As a bonus, it's free! Greenwich Park is a huge park in London and has an observatory at the top of the hill. We walked about 10 minutes to reach the top and were rewarded with fantastic city views!

This is a tour of London Heathrow Airport´s Terminal 5 for British Airways and Iberia flights. The video shows a typical departure from Terminal 5 at London Heathrow Airport.
The footage begins with us arriving at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 on the London Underground. Before making our way up to the airport we claim back our deposit that we have paid for our Oyster Cards. We then make our way up into London Heathrow Airport´s Terminal 5 Departure area where we Check-in for our flight and receive our Boarding passes. The baggage drop for our checked baggage is not open yet so we take the time to walk around the Terminal 5 Departure Hall, and even go outside to watch some planes. After we finally pass the baggage drop and security we give you the viewer a tour through Heathrow Airports Terminal 5 departure area, where viewers can see what type of restaurants, bars and Duty Free Shops are available. We also show the location of the VAT Refund Desk and discuss the London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 branch of the Aspire Lounge. The Aspire Lounge is an airport Pay Per Entry Lounge open to all passengers irrespective of the class they are flying. This video tour of Heathrow´s Terminal 5 ends with us walking to our gate and ready to fly.

According to officials in San Juan Puerto Rico, 4 cruise ships visited the island last week and 17,000 passengers enjoyed a visit for the day. The economic impact was estimated to be $1.5 million or $85.00 per passenger. The question to my viewers is, do you spend more or less than that amount when you do a shore excursion?
