Top Things to do in Holguin, Cuba
When Christopher Columbus landed in Holguin Cuba in 1492, he declared it “the most beautiful land human eyes had ever seen” I think he was on to something, the beaches are a dream, the people are warm and friendly, and the sunsets alone make you wish you could stay a few more days. And did I mention the mangos?! They smell so fresh and sweet.
You have to experience the Holguin province and when you do check out these top things:
1. Downtown Holguin – known as the city of parks. They are squares and meeting places for the locals. The best way to go from park to park is by bici taxis. Be sure to see Parque Calixto Garcia where you can visit a local museum Casa Consistorial. Sharing the roads with classic cars is pretty incredible.
2. Next head a bit outside of town to meet Vichi, a farmer who’s father and grandfather passed on the tradition of making a stable of Cuban cuisine Cassava bread which comes from the root of the Cassava plant.
3. Check out some of the artists who call Holguin home. Luis Silva is a local artist who collects scrap metal from closed down factories and sugar mills to make his art. His installations appear throughout Cuba especially at hotels and galleries in Holguin.
At Cuadernos Papiro you’ll meet Boris who’s passion is making beautiful paper from recycled scraps. One of my favorite stops was at the Fabrica de Organo, the only mechanical organ factory in Cuba and Latin America. The organs were an attraction at carnivals and large events all over Cuba. There you’ll Antonio Enrique who has been playing the organ for the last 40 years. The Neon Theater is another must see.
4. A short 45 minute drive will get you to Gibara. A pretty special place right by the sea. Fishermen use only their hands and nets to fish.

HOLGUIN, CUBA - CITY OF PARKS - GATEWAY TO GUARDALAVACA
THE CHARM OF HOLGUIN IS IN ITS FOUR PARKS OR PARQUES.
In Cuba, Holguin is a great place to live - preferred by some over Havana. Holguin is said to have a fair number of millionaires - rare in Cuba. Holguin is surprisingly attractive due to its four parks or plazas. Holguin is a gateway to the resort areas of Guardalavaca which is located a $30 taxi ride to the north on the Atlantic Coast.
Holguin flies under the radar screen as a provincial capital but Holguin has much to offer in the way of a quiet life style for Cubans.
Holguín is a city in eastern Cuba. In the center is sprawling Parque Calixto García, with a statue of the eponymous 19th-century general. Museo de Historia Provincial, in a colonial barracks, has artifacts including the Hacha de Holguín, a 15th-century carved axe head. The Museo de Historia Natural has a large collection of plant specimens and stuffed birds and animals. San Isidoro Cathedral has 2 red-domed towers. It was founded as San Isidoro de Holguín in 1545,[4] and it is named after its founder Captain García Holguín, a Spanish military officer. Prior to 1976, Holguín was located in the province of Oriente. In Pope Francis's visit to the United States, in September 2015, he visited Cuba before the U.S., and while in Cuba, he visited the Diocese of Holguin to, among other things, commemorate the location where Christopher Columbus landed.

Jeep Safari Varadero Cuba 2015
This is about our Jeep Safari excursion in Varadero Cuba. We drove the Jimny jeep in a convoy visiting the Canimar river at first where we embarked in the small speed boats to cruise along its channel. The second visit occured in the picturesque cave of Saturno where we swam in the crystal waters. Then we headed towards the Rancho Gaviota for the lunch after crossing the verdant Yumuri Valley. Before that we had a brief snorkeling session (not showed in the video). A course of 150 Km in the narrow roads of the Cuban province full of interesting landscape and authentic and still unspoiled nature lost in time.
My Cuba Tourist Highjack Drive Through Villa Clara Province
Take this plane to Cuba! Err...I mean take this YouTube Channel to Cuba! lol. Since 97% of Americans have never traveled to Cuba, I share some of my archival footage from 8 months ago that I shot on a typical communist propaganda bus drive between Santa Clara and my hotel on the northern central coast at Cayo Santa Maria. It at least allows viewers a slight taste of what Cuba looks like outside of Havana. This narration is the sanitized official stuff all tourist hear. The real Cuba awaits all who dare rent or hire a car to see this country on your own terms, which is the best way to take in the dwindling Castro regime and the kind spirited nature of the Cuban people. This was my 3rd trip there. When I return for my 4th trip Castro will be gone and cocaine, guns, and criminal corruption will be there as it was before the revolution in 1959. The only good thing about communism is that it makes people fear their government and keeps tourists like me really safe. Detroit is dangerous. Havana is not. Do the math....
