Tenerife Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Get out and explore Tenerife, Spain, a volcanic island boasting year-round sunshine and picturesque beaches. Where is Tenerife? It’s a coastal oasis, located on the largest Canary Island, just off the coast of North Africa.
Soak up the sun at Las Americas Beach, one of the most popular spots along the shore, where you’ll find watersports ranging from parasailing to surfing. For another sought-after area, drive 10 minutes north of Las Americas to Del Duque Beach, a chic stretch with clear waters and a relaxing vibe. Prefer a beach with a boardwalk? Don’t miss the pristine shores of Los Cristianos. To experience unique scenery, venture north or west and relish the black-sand beaches at Jardin or Los Gigantes Beach.
If you’re looking to see more than just the sea and sand, mosey into one of the many captivating villages. Santa Cruz de Tenerife, for example, is a must-visit part of town, where you’ll find heavy Spanish influences among numerous restaurants and a laid-back ambience. Check out the architectural wonder, the Auditorio de Tenerife “Adan Martin,” which has become symbolic of the archipelago. Next, marvel at the ancient dragon trees—said to be more 1,000 years old—in Icod de los Vinos, and then hike the trails in the mountain village of Masca.
Whether your idea of a vacation is basking in the sand of Spanish shores or getting to know the local history, you’ll find it all on your next getaway in Tenerife. For more of an inside scoop on this picturesque destination, check out our Tenerife travel guide and get ready to pack your bags.

Travel Canaries: amazing Anaga mountains on Tenerife
Support our channel :
Anaga Mountains Tenerife occupy the north-east part of the island. This is the greenest part of Tenerife, covered with rain forest at higher altitudes, roughly starting from about 600 meters above the sea level. The highest spot of the area is at Cruz del Taborno (1024 m). So this is a lower part of the island, as compared with the southwest part with Teide, Pico Viejo, Guajara and other mountains.
Just a few days before starting writing this page, I was delighted to read about this news: by the decision of UNESCO, the Anaga area has been included into World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
Anaga is a region of exceptional natural beauties and this decision of UNESCO is fully justified. The climate of Anaga is very specific and affected by trade winds.
Anaga mountains contain several zones of special protection, and those are Ijuana, El Pijaral, and Los Roques de Anaga.

Top 10 Things To Do - Canary Islands, Tenerife - Loro parque, Cueva del Viento , Candelaria, Teide,
Tenerife 2017 Trip
Tenerife 2017
On our trip we went through :
Playa de las Américas
Playa de las Américas is a purpose-built holiday resort in the southern and southern-west part of the Municipality of Arona, close to the adjoining Municipality of Adeje in the west of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. It was built in the 1960s beside the town of Los Cristianos and stretching west to the Costa Adeje. The resort area features bars, nightclubs, restaurants, attractions, and beaches, most of which are man-made with imported sand from Africa due to the darkness of the native volcanic sand. Playa de las Americas is a centre of nightlife in Tenerife. Nightlife is spread around the resort and includes the Veronicas Strip, Starco Commercial Centre and the Patch.
Parque Nacional De Las Canadas Del Teide
The national park is centered on Mount Teide, the highest mountain of Spain (3,718 metres high). Its national park status was passed on 22 January 1954, making it the third oldest national park in Spain (together with Caldera de Taburiente National Park, also in the Canary islands). Pico Viejo, also included within the national park limits, is the second highest volcano in the Canary Islands with its 3,135 m peak. Mount Teide and Pico Viejo are the only two peaks in the Canary islands rising above the 3,000 m level.
The park has an area of 18,990 hectares located in the municipality of La Orotava[citation needed]. It was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on June 28, 2007.[1] Since the end of 2007, it has also been one of the 12 Treasures of Spain. On a ridge, to the east of Teide, are the telescopes of the Observatorio del Teide.
Teide is the most visited national park in Spain and Europe and −by 2015− the eighth most visited in the world,[2] with some 3 million visitors yearly.[3] The Teide is the most famous natural icon not only of Tenerife but also of all the Canary Islands.
Icod de Los Vinos
Icod de los Vinos is a municipality in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the island of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands (Spain), located in the northwest part of the island. Inhabitants of Icod are known in Spanish as icodenses.
Icod has an area of 95.90 km², is situated at an altitude of 235 metres above sea level, and has a population of 23,092 as of 2013.[1]
In Icod, close to the Church of San Marcos, stands a famous dragon tree (22 m high, lower trunk diameter 10 m, estimated weight 70 t), which is reputed to be a thousand years old (hence its local name, El Drago Milenario: the Thousand-Year-Old Dragon). While no study seems to have confirmed such longevity for the tree (dracos do not produce annual rings with which to tell their ages; the tree is more likely to have an age in the hundreds of years[3]), it is the long-time symbol of Icod.
After an abortive attempt by the city council in 2002, another bid to list the Icod Dragon Tree as a UNESCO World Heritage Site was made in 2011.[4]
Garachico
Garachico is a municipality and town on the northern coast of Tenerife, about 52 km West of the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 50 km from Tenerife North Airport and 67 km from Tenerife South Airport. The town itself nestles below a 500m+ (1500 ft) cliff. Garachico and the surrounding area is arguably the least spoilt coastal area of Tenerife, and is in sharp contrast to areas such as Playa de las Americas. It is still very Spanish in character, and a Spanish phrasebook is advisable for non-Spanish speaking visitors.
Masca
Masca is a small mountain village on the island of Tenerife. The village is home to around 90 inhabitants. The village lies at an altitude of 650 m in the Macizo de Teno mountains, which extend up to the northwesternmost point of Tenerife.
Forests including cypresses and palm trees abound. The village lies at the head of the Masca Gorge. The trail from the village down the gorge to the beach on the Atlantic Ocean is a popular, though strenuous, hiking route, which takes about 3 hours each way.[2]
