Ile d'Oleron (Oleron island) France 2013, the Atlantic coast of France (due west of Rochefort), on the southern side of the Pertuis d'Antioche strait.
As a large Atlantic island only 3 kilometres off the Aquitanian coast of France, Oléron is a popular tourist destination for people all over France. There are very few foreign tourists. The months of July and especially August are most crowded, as most French people take their holidays during that time. The island has long-stretched beaches, and surfing and horse-riding are catered for. Besides, there are many old buildings scattered around. The campsites are popular with families. Several companies operate boat trips from the town of Boyardville to the nearby Ile d'Aix and past the famous Fort Boyard. The gastronomy is also a tourist attraction as the island has many restaurants specialising in seafood, especially the local oysters. The port towns are most visited by tourists, especially the village of La Cotiniere. This village is the base point for hundred trawlers who sell their fish every day at 5h and 16h. La Cotiniere is the first fishing port of the department of Charente-Maritime, and the 8th of France.

This is a virtual tour along French Atlantic Coast, where sixteen cities and landscapes are shown in order to encourage people to change the virtual journey into a real one.

Let's visit , La Gautrelle, St Georges, St Pierre, The lighthouse of Chassiron, Saint Trojan beaches and forests. Here are the best places I have seen during my stay in Oleron.
I'm happy my drone was still working after the crash so you can enjoy my stay on this beautiful island.

Découverte de l’Île d’Oléron – Terres de France

L’île d’Oléron, c’est un endroit vraiment incroyable. Est-ce que vous saviez que c’est la 2e plus grande île métropolitaine après la Corse ?
Plage, marais, forêt, réserve naturelle, dunes… autant vous le dire, ici, la nature est omniprésente ! On vous a donc préparé un beau programme.
Juste après avoir traversé le pont, on prend la direction de Château-d’Oléron et de son petit port très coloré ! Une 30aine de créateurs a investi d’anciennes cabanes d’ostréiculteurs. Une manière intelligente de préserver ce fabuleux patrimoine.
Charlotte a rendez-vous avec Emilie et sa jolie cabane orange. Elle préside l’association « Couleurs Cabane ».
Direction ensuite, le nord de l’île à la pointe de Chassiron. Les oléronais appellent cet endroit « Le bout du monde ».
On va profiter de la marée basse pour aller s’y balader avec Jean-Baptiste
Dernière étape du jour, la côte-est de l’île pour y faire une nouvelle balade gustative… mais cette fois pour y gouter les plantes des dunes de sables.
